WIB-Pittsburgh Attends “Feeding the Dragon”

On election night, November 8, 2016, the Pittsburgh Women In Bio chapter delighted in a moment of respite and reflection:

"Feeding the Dragon" is a play written and performed by Sharon Washington, who grew up in an apartment located within the

New York Carnegie library, which her father maintained. Washington’s powerful one-woman show recalls her experiences living

in an unusual environment with parents who kept the library furnace fires stoked and who battled private dragons. Her story of

personal discovery and steadfastness complemented our election-day mood. After the show, the playwright joined our group to

discuss her journey from young introverted bookworm to an expressive and animated actress. Many thanks to the Pittsburgh

City Theatre for providing Women In Bio with an opportunity to meet with Sharon; she is inspiring!
