Five Ways to Stop the Madness if You are Bullied:
1. Ignore it and walk away. Hold in your angerand fear, because that is just what the bullywants to see. Keep your feelings in your heartuntil you can safely express them.
2. Talk about it. Find a safe person to talk to, a teacher, your counselor, your parent, or a relative. Or, write down what happened in a journal as a means of safely expressing your reaction and feelings.
3. Find your true friends. Learn who you can count on and who will not join in with mean and hurtful words or gossip.
4. Practice confidence. Know that if you seem afraid or unhappy, the bully will try to hurt your feelings again.
5. Cyberspace. If you get a mean or hurtful email, IM, phone call, or text message, do NOT answer the message. Save the message and tell a safe person about it, your parent or a teacher, for example.
