Members of the 723 Helicopter Squadron - HMAS Albatross, will be landing a Bell 429 helicopter on the back school oval. Both staff and students have been preparing for the visit, focussing on learning about spatial relations including mapping and directions and just interesting facts about helicopters. Everyone is very excited about the visit and the opportunity to learn about life as a helicopter pilot and the many opportunities this career provides. We will be taking many photos and videos of the visit and will share it with you over the next few weeks. Tell Them From Me Survey If you haven’t done so already, we hope you might take some time in the next two days to complete our annual school online survey. We value parent feedback and encourage you to tell us what you think of Red Hill Public School. The survey closes on Friday! Thank you to those parents who have completed the Tell Them From Me survey. Participating in the survey is entirely voluntary, however, your responses are very much appreciated. Teacher Learning Not only do the students of Red Hill Public School work hard to be great learners, so do our staff. Each week our staff meet and work hard to improve our practice to ensure they are meeting the learning needs of students. Most recently teachers have been looking at mathematical investigations and spatial reasoning. They also are working to understand oral language and the impact this has on social interaction and learning. Here are some pictures of the staff engaging in some spatial reasoning tasks and linking them to the NSW K-6 Mathematics Syllabus. This learning allows teachers to refine their practice and ensures they are fully prepared for lessons. Staff ensure they have thought deeply about how to address any difficulties students may encounter and how they can extend student learning.

Stage Two League Tag CompetitionDue to the success of last terms 5/6 League Tag competition and the eagerness of the 3/4 students a new competition has started this term for the stage two students. There has been a great response to the competition with 4 sides fielding 8-10 players each week. The competition commenced in the first week of school. Games are played during the second half of lunch on Wednesday and Thursday each week. Special thanks to the students who enthusiastically help out as touch judges and scorers!
