THIS WEEK’S CALENDAR

Through the Lord’s Supper, Jesus comes to us and grants us His eternal gifts! As we prepare to receive the Lord’s Supper, God’s Word encourages us to examine ourselves. The following questions can help you as you prepare to receive the Lord and His gifts: 1) Do you believe that you are a sinner whose hope for eternal life comes from

Christ alone? Romans 3:23-24 2) Do you believe that Jesus Christ is God’s Son and your Savior? Matt. 16:15-17 3) Do you believe that Jesus is present in this sacred meal to grant His forgiveness?

Matthew 26:26-28

4) Do you, by the power of the Holy Spirit, desire to live a godly life in response to

the Lord’s grace and goodness? Romans 12:1-2

Pastor Bo Brink

Monday – v21 – On the 8th day, Jesus is both circumcised and named. What importance do you see here? Tuesday – vs22-24 – On the 40th day, Jesus is presented to God by Mary and Joseph. What importance do you see here? Wednesday – v32a – Simeon calls Jesus “a light for revelation to the Gentiles.” In what sense? Thursday – v32b – Simeon calls Jesus “a glory to your people Israel.” In what sense? Friday – v29 – Simeon says he is now ready to die, and to do so in peace. How so? Could that be true for you and me also? How? Saturday – v38 – After meeting the Baby Jesus, old Anna “spoke about the child to all . . .” How do you apply Anna’s action to your life?

In some ways, the Baby Jesus seemed too Jewish to be the Savior for the whole world. Yet the Bible teaches that He is God’s one and only Savior from sin for all people of all time. So while there is urgency to share Him will all people, it remains crucial to live your life knowing that He is “your” Savior.
