Worship Focus

April 28, 2019 Love's Disruptive Witness Acts 5:27–32We hold our breath as Peter and John disrupt the status quo as they proclaim the risen Christ. The message of Easter is so astonishing we cannot keep it to ourselves. Peter and the apostles faced the same problem. Their lives had been so profoundly changed by the presence of Jesus, and now by the awareness that Jesus’ message was alive through them, they could not keep quiet. Even when authorities tried to silence them, as they had done some time before with Jesus, the message always found its way to the surface. What message about God’s love have you heard loud and clear, no matter what? What message about God’s love do you think the world needs to hear most of all?

May 5, 2019 Turning Point of Transformation Acts 9:1–6, (7–20)As Paul comes face-to-face with the truth of his life and his world, we ponder the call of Ananias to be an agent of reconciliation and peace. We never can know for sure how God is going to do things. Just when we think we understand what is going on, a curve ball comes flying in. We think we know who are the people chosen to proclaim God’s message – and often it’s people like us! – and then God challenges us to broaden our understanding. Paul was once a great enemy of the early church, and God called him to become one of the leading apostles. When have you been surprised at God’s ways of doing things?

May 12, 2019 Identity of Resistance Acts 9:36–43Tabitha’s story reminds us that everyday individual and congregational acts of love, compassion, and kindness have the power to lift people to life. Witnessing to God’s gracious acts can take many forms. When Tabitha died, her friends showed Peter some of the things she had made for others, as a way of letting Peter know how important and valuable she was. Their simple act showed how Tabitha demonstrated God’s love each day of her life. If someone was to show how you lived your Christian faith, what might they say or do?

The proceeds for the “bakeless bake sale” will buy new tables for the fellowship hall. Rectangle tables are $80, round ones $120 and they’ll get new table cloths as well! Total needed is $4000…make a donation today! It’s calorie free! Checks payable to Enon UMW, clearly mark for “tables”Round tables have been purchased…now for the rectangles!!

Blood Drive - May 5Let’s beat our blood donation record! Over the last several years, we’ve partnered with the American Red Cross to host some very successful blood drives. On May 5, we’re doing it again, and this time we are being challenged out of need to support more patients. At our most successful drive, we worked together to collect over 30 pints of blood. It is heartening to know that together we have accomplished so much good. I think we can go even further this time. I would like to ask all of us to be a part of increasing our goal to 35 units collected. If you can’t give, you can recruit others to give in your place. Thank you for making Enon UMC such a success in so many ways. Let’s make an impact in our community on May 5 by meeting this new goal and add it to our list of great accomplishments.

Yoga starting April 7 @ 7. $10 per class with discounts when packaged. Check out the facebook page or ask for more details on the tear off.

Mother’s Day is May 12. You’ll have the opportunity to list the special “mothers” in your life in the bulletin. It will be $5 per name and the proceeds will go to Camp Rainbow. Please mark the tear off (print neatly) and put the money in the offering plate.
