New volunteers attend a 3 hour new volunteer training2. Job description

This unpaid volunteer position works with young people 10-22 who have committed eligible offenses, and have chosen Restorative Justice as a meaningful way to repair the harm caused by their offense. Volunteers participate in Restorative Justice Circles with the young people and represent the community perspective on how the crime impacted the community. 3. Expectations

Volunteer Liability Waiver and Agreement

I, (print name) ____________________________________, promise to take due care during my volunteer activities and am aware of the hazards and risks that may be associated with my participation in volunteer activities with the City. I understand, accept, and assume all such hazards and risks and waive all claims against the City of Fort Collins, its officers, agents, volunteers and employees for any injuries suffered by me or damages to my property arising out of or related to my participation in volunteer activities with the City. Further, I agree to indemnify the City of Fort Collins, its officers, agents, volunteers and employees against, and be responsible for, all harm, injury or damage I willfully and wantonly cause to any persons, property or equipment in conjunction with my participation in such volunteer activities with the City.

The risks and hazards that may be associated with my participation in volunteer activities with the City include the following:

1. Heavy Outdoor Duties-- heavy lifting, kneeling, standing, stooping, walking or moving over rough terrain, animal bites, kicks, injury from use of hand tools (shovels, rakes, wheelbarrows), planting trees, exposure to stinging or poisonous wildlife/plants, sometimes limited cell phone reception, exposure to extreme temperatures, sunburn, dehydration, cold.

2. Moderate Outdoor Duties--lifting, small tools, pulling weeds, gardening to include lifting bags of soil, bike riding over rough terrain, crossing roads, bike/pedestrian counts, picking up trash (possible exposure to trash, human waste, drug paraphernalia, weapons etc.), exposure to stinging or poisonous wildlife/plants, interacting with the public, exposure to extreme temperatures, sunburn, dehydration, cold.

City staff or other volunteers may take photos of volunteer activities for City marketing purposes unless a volunteer provides written notification to the City that he or she does not authorize use of volunteer’s photos for this purpose.

I will not drive a vehicle to conduct City business unless authorized to do so by my City supervisor. I understand that I must report all traffic violation citations received while driving on City business, or any suspension or revocation of my driver’s license, to a City supervisor immediately. Prior to conducting any City business in my automobile, I will secure and maintain all State of Colorado insurance requirements and hold a valid Driver’s License any time I conduct City business in my automobile.
