RESTRICTED SUBSTANCES LIST (RSL)FOOTWEAR

OCTOBER 2015

Restricted Substances List October 2015

INTRODUCTION

At Salomon, we strive to our business in an ethically, socially and environmentally responsible manner and ensures that all of our products are innovative and safe. We choose business partners committed to fair and sustainable business. Working hand in hand with our sister brands in the Amer Sports group we seek to protect customers, workers and the environment with a detailed chemicals management program encompassing our supply chain, manufacturing processes, products, and packaging. To support this objective, Salomon has developed Restricted Substances Lists (RSL) specific to our products, which are available for public access here

Salomon’s chemicals management approach requires that our business partners make the following commitments: • Guarantee that materials, components and finished products supplied to Salomon are in full compliance with current local laws and regulations regarding toxicology, environment and product safety.• Not using those substances listed in this RSL • Improve the environmental impact of the materials they supply. Specifically: - Materials and components supplied are non-toxic in use and disposal and using them in manufacturing products does not involve toxic releases or damaging ecosystems. - Suppliers strive for making materials from renewable and organic resources that are recycleable or biodegradable. - Suppliers manufacture product components and materials under legaly compliant environmental conditions. • When sourcing materials from animals Salomon does not accept any unnecessary pain, suffering or injury caused to these animals, whether they are wild or domesticated.. Additionally Salomon does not source material from any endangered or threatened species as defined by the International Union for Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources (IUCN) Red List. • In its products Salomon will accept only : - Leather or leather parts that originate solely from animals which have been used for meat production - Wool or wool parts that originate solely from sheep which have not been subject to mulesing - Down and feather that has been plucked from geese and birds that used primarily for meat production. Additionally, down sources must not be force-fed or live-plucked

In addition, we are working to eliminate PVC from use in all Salomon products. At this time, PVC is prohibited from use in all footwear, apparel and gear products. Salomon bases its RSL policy upon knowledge of applicable laws and always taking the strictest standards legislated globally and notably REACH (Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 18 December 2006 concerning the Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals), the US Consumer Product Safety Act (15 USC §§ 2051 et seq.), and the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (Public Law 110-314-Aug. 14, 2008), European Commission Directive on the restriction of the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and

electronic equipment (ROHS), Biocidal Product Regulation (BPR, Regulation (EU) 528/2012) and other laws and regulations relating to the classification, packaging and labeling of dangerous substances in EEA, labels with an ecofriendly – toxic – free/sale orientation, consultation with chemical experts. Salomon requires its suppliers and business partners to legally agree to implement management processes in compliance with the requirements identified in its RSLs Please note that the RSL is updated regularly (typically annually) in order to keep ensure adherence with emerging and evolving regulations.

DEFINITIONS

Product: finished product, packaging, raw material, component used in the manufacture of an Salomon product. Soft goods: apparel products, footwear products, accessories such as bags, caps, beanies and soft parts of Hard goods. Examples of soft parts of Hard goods: grip of a golf club, watch strap, soft parts of ski boots Hard goods: sports equipment such as skis, snowboards, wheels, rackets, golf clubs to the exception of their soft parts which shall be considered as soft goods. Limit: maximum concentration of a substance in a component or an homogeneous part of a product expressed in mg/kg unless stated otherwise Trace limits: technical impurities of a substance which has been identified with a usage ban which cannot be avoided technically. Depending on the type of substance and its related manufacturing processes in chemical industry and downstream user industry such trace limits may be different but shall always ensure safety for consumers and environment based on available scientific data. Usage ban: prohibition of the intentional use of a substance during any stage of production of a product. Test methods: best industry practice test methods or test methods as defined by regulations. Test methods are subject to permanent change and they shall always be checked with Salomon. CAS Number: unique numerical identifiers assigned by the Chemical Abstracts Service to every chemical described in the open scientific literature (currently including those described from at least 1957 through the present) and including elements, isotopes, organic and inorganic compounds, ions, organometallics, metals and other individual chemical components. Suppliers: Products suppliers including finished products, components and materials suppliers Component: Homogenous part of a finished product SVHC: Substances of Very High Concern (SVHC) which are defined in article 57 of the Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 (REACH) and include certain substances that may have serious and often irreversible effects on human health and the environment. REACH aims at ensuring that the risks resulting from the use of SVHCs are controlled and that the substances be replaced where possible. Authorized testing institute/laboratory: Testing laboratory complying with Salomon requirements.
