NON-ACADEMIC PROJECTS Google chrome extension for smart shopping (JavaScript) Ongoing Developing an extension for notifying price drop of an interested item from an online shopping website. Search engine for user reviews of restaurants (R, Hadoop, Amazon AWS, Lucene, Solr) August 2015 – Dec 2015 Extracted sentiment from user reviews using Stanford sentiment analysis algorithm. Built an inverted index on user reviews and its sentiment using map reduce in R to enable search for positive and negative reviews for given restaurant. Built relevance model based on frequency of word and magnitude of sentiment to return most relevant results for given search criteria. Capital One challenge – Categorize clients based on Transaction Data (Python) July 2015 Developed an algorithm using time series analysis and k-means clustering to categorize clients in daily, weekly, monthly or yearly category based on their frequency of transaction. Netflix rating prediction (R, Python, Hadoop) April 2015 Cleaned and processed data using Python. Predicted user rating using Generalized Linear Model in R and ran it on Amazon EMR to handle huge Netflix dataset.
