EVM 3200 - Concept of IoT (Internet-of-Things) at Texas Instruments, Bangalore

Description

EVM-CC3200 is a complex integrated System that interfaces various sensors with multiple communication protocols integrated with CC3200 SimpleLink™ Wi-Fi® and Internet-of-Things solution, a Single-Chip ARM Cortex-M4 core running Wireless MCU from Texas Instruments.

Features of the system are:

1. Onboard SPI/I2C Sensors tested with firmware: IR module, Accelerometer & Gyro sensor, Magnetic sensor, Humidity Sensor, Temperature sensor, Current & Voltage monitoring sensors, Light sensor, Proximity & motion sensors, ADCs.

2. Bluetooth module interfaced with MCU on 4-wire UART. 3. NFC Transceiver & Reader (TRF7970) onboard for security measures. 4. Audio codec (TLVAIC3254) with dual microphones and digital amplifier to line out with on-

board speakers. 5. Power supply circuits design (error free & nondestructive) with multiple power sources:

Broadcom’s BCM7445 UltraHD TV Home Gateway chip is designed for the home and multiscreen connected-home entertainment.

Project DWR - Doppler weather radar at Bharat Electronics Limited, Bangalore

Details

Doppler weather radar is a type of radar used to locate precipitation, calculate its motion, and estimate its type (rain, snow, hail, etc.) FPGA based system is employed to command, control, communicate to all subsystems for synchronous real time operation.

Role & Contribution • Hardware Design, Development of Board & VHDL Programming for Application

Development on FPGA integrated with NIOS-II soft-core Processor and Timing analysis to generate control signals with I/O timing constraints to operate Radar,

• Porting of RTOS (uClinux & micro-C) on NIOS-II soft-core Processor to exploit the advantages of RTOS and Development of firmware in C with efficient use of RTOS concepts like multithreading.

• Firmware Development to communicate to various subsystems of Radar namely Transmitter, Receiver, Servo system, Signal processing System over LAN using UDP & TCP/IP protocols.

• Board bring-up & debugging of FPGA board for prototype radar system.

• GUI Development in C# for standalone testing of functionality of assembled boards by interfacing the Board with PC and for health monitoring & controlling subsystems.

Details

DNR is basic Navigational radar which is mounted on ship and helps to navigate through the oceans safely.PIC controller boards are employed for various control & communication applications.

Role & Contribution • Design, Development and Testing of Health monitoring embedded systems with PIC

Microcontrollers and Firmware Development for the same using MPLAB IDE from microchip in C using with the peripherals I/Os, Timer/Clocks, Interrupts, protocols & interfaces like SPI, I2C, UART, RS232, RS485, RS422.

• Software & hardware Development for Reception of data from GPS receiver to analyze of data to get the precise position of ship integrating GARMIN GPS receiver.

Project Development of Radar Controller interfacing Signal processor RVP900 in DWR

Details Radar Digital Signal processor is employed in Doppler weather radar to process the reflected RF pulses from clouds to generate weather meteorological data used for weather forecasting.

Role & Contribution • Development of Signal processing algorithms.

• Development of an applications in ‘C’ on SBC–VR12 on Linux platform to control the subsystems of receiver like transmitter, Receiver, Servo System & Signal processing Unit over network with TCP/IP & UDP protocols.

• Integration & Testing of signal processing algorithms with Weather Radar System, processing millions of bytes of raw radar data and decoding & processing the complex encoded data on network being transmitted in TCP/IP protocol to extract the required data to plot the data on Real time display.
