    Return of the Shroud

t the time of her death, a pious lady in the city of Baramade a will to her son to shroud her in the clothes she

used to wear while performing acts of worship in the Holymonth of Rajab. After her demise, her son buried her, shrouding her in another piece of cloth. When he returnedhome from the cemetery, he was astonished to discover thatthe cloth, in which he shrouded his mother, was at his homeand the clothes which she had instructed him to shroud herwith, had disappeared! Suddenly, a voice was heard from the

unknown, Take back your shroud. We have shrouded her (inthe cloth about which she had made a will). We do not leavethe people who fast in Rajab to grief in their graves. (Nuzha-tul-Majlis, pp. 155, vol. 1)

THE VIRTUES OF THE MONTH OF RAJAB

ujja-tul-Islm, Imm Muammad Ghazl has stated

in his renowned workMukshafa-tul-Qulb, The month ofRajab has actually been derived from the word Tarjb which means to honour. It is also known as Al-Aab which means fast flowing as mercy is rapidly showered upon

those who repent in this month. Furthermore, the light ofacceptance also descends upon the worshippers in this month.

    It is also called Al-Aam

, which means the most deafbecause the sound of war and weapons is not heard at allduring this month. Another name for this month is Rajab

( ) named after a river in paradise whose water is whiterthan milk, sweeter than honey and cooler than ice. Only thosepeople will drink from it who fast in the month of Rajab.(Mukshifat-ul-Qulb, p. 301)

The book Ghunya-tu-libn adds that this month is alsocalled the Month of Stoning as the shayn arestoned in it so that they do not harm the Muslims. This blessed

month is also known byAl-Aam , which means themost deaf because it has not been heard [or recorded] thatAllah punished a nation in this month contrary to theother months when All has sent punishment on

    nations. (Ghunyat-u-libn, p. 229)

    THE THREE LETTERS OF RAJAB

Dear Islamic Brothers, [Glory be to All ]!What can be said about the fabulous virtues of the month ofRajab? Mukshafa-tul-Qulb stated that our pious saints

have asserted, There are three letters in the wordRajab; R (),Jm () and B (). The first letter R() standsfor the Mercy of All [Ramatulla], Jm () stands forCrime [Jurm] of the person and the last B () stands for

    THE MONTH OF SOWING SEEDS

arat Sayyidun Allma affaur has stated, Rajab

is the month of sowing the seeds, Shabn for watering themand Raman for harvesting. Therefore, if someone does notsow the seeds of worship in Rajab and does not water themwith tears of remorse in Shabn, then how will he be able toharvest Mercy in Raman? The Shaykh has furtheradded, Rajab purifies the body, Shabn purifies the heart andRaman purifies the soul. (Nuzha-tul-Majlis, pp. 155, vol. 1)

RAJAB IS THE NAME OF A HEAVENLY RIVER

will be sealed to him. Whoever fasts for eight days, the eightgates of paradise will be opened for him and whoever fasts forten days, All will Grant him whatever he asks for.

Whoever fasts for fifteen days, a herald will call out from thesky, The sins you have committed in the past have beenforgiven so now renew your good actions. Whoever fast formore days than that, All showers more bounties. All

transported N in the ark in this month andN fasted and ordered all those with him to fast.(Mujam Kabr, pp. 69, vol. 6, ad. 5538)

    THE VIRTUES OF ONE FAST

The Master ofad, arat Sayyidun Abdul aq MuaddiDilv cites the following ad of our BelovedProphet Rajab is a month among themonths ofurma and its days are inscribed on the gate of the

sixth Heaven. If a person fasts a day in Rajab and completes itwith piety, then this fast and this day (when he fasted) will seekforgiveness on his behalf from All and will say, YAll , forgive this servant! If the person fasts withoutpiety, the fast and the day will not make the plea for hisforgiveness and they will say to him, Your Nafs has betrayedyou. (Mabata-bis-Sunna, P342)

Dear Islamic Brothers! We have now learnt that remaininghungry and thirsty is not the sole purpose of fasting. It isimperative that we prevent every organ from sins as well. If

one carries on to commit sins despite fasting, then that personis deprived.

THE FAST OF THE 27th A COMPENSATION FOR10YEARS'SINS

Al arat, Imm Amad Raz Khn cites a adfrom Fawid-e-Nid in his famous compendium of IslamicVerdicts that Sayyidun Anas has narrated that theHighly Celebrated Prophet, the Chosen One, the Spirit of Mercy, the Noble Prophet

said, I was bestowed withProphethood on the 27th ofRajab. Whoever fasts on this dayand supplicates at the time of Ifr, it will be atonement for his10 years' sins. (Fatw Raawiyyah (Jad d), p. 658 vol. 4)

    THE REWARD FOR60MONTHS OF FASTING

fasted for one hundred years. This is the 27th ofRajab. This isthe day on which Muammad declared as aProphet. (Shubul mn, pp. 374, vol. 3, ad. 3811)

THE VIRTUES OF FULFILLING A NEED

arat Sayyidun Abdull Ibn-e-Zubar says,Whoever alleviates someones troubles (predicaments) in themonth ofRajab, All will grant him a palace in paradisewhich will be as spacious as the furthest limits of your sight.

Dear Islamic Brothers! All has ordained four monthsto be the months ofurma, hence All says in SraTauba:

    -

Indeed the number of months before All is twelve in the

Book of All, since the day He created the heavensand the earth, of which four are sacred; this the straightreligion; so do not wrong yourselves in those months andconstantly fight against the polytheists as they constantly

fight against you and know well that All is with thepious.

(Sra Tauba, Para 10, Verse 36)

Dear Islamic Brothers! In the aforementioned blessed verse, the months mentioned are the months based on the lunarcalendar. The rulings under the Islamic Law are based uponthe lunar months. For example, the fasts ofRaman, rulingsof Zak, and the rites ofaj; Islamic celebration such asMauld-un-Nab, Ed-ul-Fir, Ed-ul-A, Night of Marj,Night of Bar-a, the Auspicious 11th*, yearlyUrs of Saints etc.

are all celebrated according to the lunar calendar. Alas!

Nowadays, where Muslims are so afar from the Sunna, theyare also disconnected from Islamic calendar and unaware ofthe Islamic dates. If a question is posed to a gathering of a

100,000 Muslims, What is the Islamic date, month and yeartoday? hardly about hundred Muslims would be able tocorrectly reply.

Commenting on the aforementioned verse, arat SayyidunNam-ud-Dn Murdbd says in Khazin-ul-Irfn,[The four months of urma are] the three consecutive

months: ul-Qada, ul-ijja, Muarram, and one monthofRajab. Even in the age of ignorance, the Arabs consideredkilling (war) arm [Strictly Forbidden] in these months. InIslam, the urma and greatness of these months has beenemphasized and elevated.

    AFAITH ENLIGHTENING PARABLE

During the sacred times of arat Sayyidun s aperson was in deep love with a woman. One day he managedto grab hold of her. From the commotion of the people, heconcluded that they were sighting the moon. He asked thewoman, Which months crescent are the people looking at?She replied, The month ofRajab. Although this person was akfir [non-Muslim], upon hearing the name of Rajab, he

immediately moved away from the woman due to the honourof this month and refrained from fornication. aratSayyidun s was commanded by All to visitthis person so arat Sayyidun s visited the person

and stated the command of All and the purpose of hisvisit. Upon hearing this, that persons heart becameenlightened with the Nr(Light) of Islam and he immediately

    embraced Islam. (Ans-ul-Win, P177, Maktaba-e-Arabia, Quetta)

Dear Islamic Brothers! Did you notice the virtues ofRajab? Adisbeliever was predestined with the treasure of Imn becauseof the honour he gave to Rajab. Now if a Muslim honours

Rajab, what benefits and rewards could he earn by respectingthe honourable month ofRajab. Muslims must greatly respectthe month ofRajab. The Holy Qurn also prohibits people ofoppressing themselves in the months ofurma. Commenting

on the verse (Do not offend yourselves inthose months)Nr-ul-Irfn states, That is do not commit sinsspecially in these four months as it is an oppression on oneselfto commit sins in these months or do not oppress each other.

    REWARD OF TWO YEARS

arat Sayyidun Anas has narrated that the

Impeccable Prophet has said, One who fastsfor three days; on Thursday, Friday and Saturday in themonths ofurma, a reward of two-year worship will beinscribed for him.(Majma-uz-Zawid, pp. 438, vol. 3, ad. 5151)

Dear Islamic Brothers! The months ofurma mentioned inthe aforementioned ad are four i.e. ul-Qada, ul-ijja,Muarram, and Rajab. If you fast in any three days of any

    AGLOWING MOUNTAIN

Once, arat Sayyidun s passed by a luminous, sparkling mountain. He requested in the court of All,Y All ! Grant this mountain the faculty of speech. The mountain then spoke, Oh Rullah ! What do youwant? The Prophet replied, Tell me about your state.

The mountain said, A person lives inside me. aratSayyidun s requested in the court of All , YAll ! Reveal him before me! The mountain split openand a saint with a face glowing like moon emerged from it.

According tothe schedule, we were busy learning the Sunna in a studycircle when a person arrived and behaved in a very kindmanner with brothers in the Madan Qfila. This person then

    CARRYING OUT FIKR-E-MADNA EVERYDAY

This a summary of an account related by an Islamic brother: I love the Madan Inmt and I do Fikr-e-Madna

every day. Once I was with shiqn-e-Rasl in a Madan

Qfila aimed at educating the Prophetic Sunna, under thesupervision ofDawat-e-Islm, the international non-politicalreligious movement of the Qurn and Sunna, in Baluchistan(Pakistan). It was in this Qfila that All opened thedoor of mercy for this sinner. When I slept at night, I saw themost greatest of all the Prophets in a dream. As I was looking at him his blessed lips began to move and

these were the pearls that poured out of his mouth, I will takewith me into Heaven all those who carry out Fikr-e-Madna

    everyday in the Madan Qfila.
