8TH ANNUAL SAINTS ATHLETICS GOLF TOURNAMENT St. Lawrence University Oliver D. Appleton Golf Course Late registration possible, beginning at 9 a.m. with a 10 a.m. shotgun start; cocktail reception and awards presentation at 4 p.m. Entry fee of $175 covers green fees, cart, lunch, contests, prizes, cocktail reception and approximately $100 as a tax-deductible gift to the athletics department.

THOUSAND ISLANDS BOAT TOUR Please arrive 15 minutes before departure. Meet at Parking Lot H, adjacent to the Noble Center Travel by bus to the Thousand Islands for a one-hour cruise with Uncle Sam’s Boat Tours. This tour will highlight the “Millionaires Row” section of the U.S. islands and then loop into Canadian waters before heading back to Alexandria Bay for a buffet lunch. Pre-registration was required; transportation is included. If you are interested in attending this day trip but did not pre-register, please ask about availability at the Registration Center.

Transportation is available at the Noble Center, or go out Park Street to the end of the sports fields, turn right on the gravel road just before the Little River bridge, and go about 100 yards to the Canoe Shack, a brown clapboard building on the river’s edge.

IT’S A MILLENNIAL WORLD AND WE’RE JUST LIVING IN IT Carnegie 010 Sue Katzen ’86, Alumni Citation recipient, has built a career in the media. From advertising to magazine publishing, Sue has worked to understand a variety of demographic segments and leverage their collective power for marketers. The “Millennials” have been one of her most challenging segments. Not since the Baby Boomer has

another generation held such potential for impact on every aspect of our lives: commerce, employment, entertainment and technology. Sue will discuss her work with Millennials and try to demystify this often maligned generation as she lives through the changes in the world of print media. She will share some bright spots about this generation, as well as ideas to help us deal with the fact that “It’s a Millennial World and We’re Just Living In It.”

COVERING THE 2016 ELECTION AND THE FIRST 100 DAYS OF THE TRUMP PRESIDENCY, AND THE IMPORTANCE OF A LIBERAL ARTS EDUCATION IN UNDERSTANDING OUR TIMES Carnegie 010 Martha MacCallum Gregory ’86, Alumni Citation recipient, has covered the past four Presidential elections for Fox News Network. From the bus to the campaign plane to the cheap hotel to the motorcade, to the Convention Floor to the debate stage to the White House, she has had a front row seat for the intense battle that ends with the victor of the highest office in the land.

2016 was nothing like any had ever seen and it tossed out all the models and exit polls, and conventional wisdom we had come to rely on. Just when Martha thought she had figured it all out, along came the race between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump, which turned all that on its proverbial head. As a St Lawrence Political Science major, she had no idea where her degree would take her. Martha did internships on the Hill, applied to Law School and ended up studying Theater in New York. But St. Lawrence had prepared her for it all, in ways she never imagined.

STAINED GLASS WINDOW TOUR WITH UNIVERSITY CHAPLAIN KATHLEEN BUCKLEY Gunnison Memorial Chapel See the 28 stained glass windows on campus: one in Herring-Cole, two in Atwood Hall, four in Richardson Hall, and 21 in Gunnison Memorial Chapel. These amazing windows celebrate various liberal arts disciplines and honor individuals ranging from King Arthur to Mahatma Gandhi to Dag Hammarskjöld.

HIKE TO LAMPSON FALLS Please arrive 10 minutes before departure. Meet at Parking Lot H, adjacent to the Noble Center Transportation is available for the first 33 participants. This is an easy hike to a scenic spot 30 minutes from campus. Alumni driving personal vehicles are welcome and directions are available at the Registration Center. Trail is handicapped accessible. Inclement weather will cancel this trip.

The Spanish film will play first, followed by the Austrian selection. Yes, popcorn and subtitles are provided!

PERFORMANCE BY BLAINE HOLCOMB ’14, MIKE GODWIN ’15, & WILL PELLERIN ’15 Winston Room, Sullivan Student Center Blaine Holcomb ’14, Mike Godwin ’15, and Will Pellerin ’15 are each independent singer-songwriters out of Nashville, TN. In addition to writing their own original music, Holcomb and Godwin play country music in Nashville’s heralded bars on lower Broadway. Pellerin has played his original music in various bars around Nashville and has toured up and down the east coast and in northern New York. Collectively, the three incorporate their three part harmonies into a blend of country and folk material suitable for both easy listening and rowdy crowds. Cash bar available.

REUNION BIKE RIDE Please arrive 10 minutes before the start time. Meet at the steps of Vilas Hall Join University staff on a 15-20 mile bike ride. This ride is paced for recreational cyclists and above. Those wishing to participate must provide their own bike, helmet, and gear. No bike rentals are available. Inclement weather will cancel this event.

JOHNSON HALL OF SCIENCE TOUR WITH PROFESSOR OF PSYCHOLOGY TOM GREENE AND BIOLOGY PROFESSOR EMERITUS TOM BUDD Meet at Johnson Hall Main Entrance (North Lobby) Johnson Hall of Science represents innovative ways of teaching and of constructing spaces and buildings. The home of biology, biochemistry, chemistry, neuroscience and aspects of psychology is part of a multi-phase program to provide state-of-the-art science and math facilities. It is also the first LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) building on campus, representing a deep commitment to sustainable (“green”) architecture and practices.

REFORM OF URBAN K-12 EDUCATION: THE SLOW-MOTION TRAIN WRECK WE HAVE ALLOWED TO RUIN OUR COMMUNITIES, AND WHAT WE CAN DO ABOUT IT Carnegie 010 Jim Brush ’77, P’08, former Trustee, and Alumni Citation recipient, spent a 25-year career as owner and 12 years as CEO of Sentry Group in Rochester, NY where he was involved in many initiatives to reform and improve the education system. Since selling his family business and “retiring” in 2014 he has assumed a role as Executive Director of E3, a non-profit dedicated to improving the disappointing academic results of Rochester’s poorest urban children. His focus is to attempt to build a community wide initiative to reform the urban education system…a big challenge, but one with a big payoff if E3 can be successful. Jim’s presentation will cover this journey, some facts about our nation’s current urban district- and charter- public school system, and the approach to reform in Rochester.

THE THIRD SECTOR: ENSURING HIGH FUNCTIONING BOARDS THROUGH HIGH FUNCTIONING LEADERSHIP Carnegie 010 Mary Jo Faucher Hunt ’76, P’04, recipient of the 2017 Sol Feinstone award, has been a volunteer and a professional in the Third Sector for over 35 years. Her experiences, built upon her liberal arts education, have led to a career in assisting non-profit Boards of Directors to become high functioning Boards by utilizing best practices in board governance and leadership. Join her for a facilitated discussion building upon your experiences and her expertise to become a more effective leader.

#SLUGOESGLOBAL FORUM Feinstone Room, Herring-Cole Hall St. Lawrence University’s footprint has gone global thanks to robust and immersive study abroad opportunities. With the Spain and Austria programs celebrating 50 year milestones, Dr. Marina Llorente, Associate Dean of the Center for International and Intercultural Studies, hosts the #SLUgoesGlobal Forum. This session serves as an opportunity for alumni to share their stories and memories from their time abroad in Madrid and Vienna, how it has since shaped their lives and deepened their appreciation of the experience. ¡Anímate y participa. THE PAST, THE PRESENT AND THE FUTURE OF THE IT HELPDESK Frost Ferguson Room 204, Owen D. Young Library For 25 years, St. Lawrence students have answered countless questions and concerns at the IT Helpdesk. Questions ranging from, “Why can’t I print?” to “What is a network cable?” have been met by courteous responses followed by the always-popular reminder, “IT will never ask you for your ID or password.” These dedicated students served their alma mater with patience and intellect in an ever-changing world. In this discussion, we will hear stories from the Helpdesk, talk about how it remains an integral part of campus today, and what the future holds for Information Technology with its upcoming planned move to Owen D. Young Library.

PERFORMANCE BY ANGRY NEIGHBORS Winston Room, Sullivan Student Center Drawing their name from community reaction to the unholy racket emanating from their Park Street theme house, Angry Neighbors formed at St. Lawrence in 1983. The original lineup featured Steve Amick ’86 (vocals & percussion), David Scott ’86 (vocals & bathrobe), Sam Hiser ’86 (drums), Richard Scullin ’86 (bass & vocals), Joe Snapp ’86 (guitar), and Erik Esckilsen ’86 (guitar & vocals). Other SLU bands grew out of, and merged with, the Neighborhood. Two members of this larger SLU music family included singer-songwriter-guitarists Janet Dewey ’86 and Roger Holloway ’86, among others. Dewey and Holloway will perform with Amick, Hiser, and Esckilsen on the occasion of their 30th

reunion with two sets blending Reagan-era rock recollections, songs from the musicians’ various pre- and post-grad projects, and other eminently danceable selections. Cash bar available.
