Spring/Summer 2011 Okay, the weather has already run its course and we are all counting down the days until we can wear a summer dress and attempt bare legs. So what have our fantastic fashion designers come up with for next season. The colour to look out for is Tangerine. Theres no need to buy head to toe tangerine, (unless you want to) you can simply have minimal amount mixing with black or have it included in a print. There was a great combination of coral and fuchsia on the catwalk just what you need for a cheering up! Christopher Kane displayed fantasic neon colours in his S/S 2011 collection where again just a neon accessory will add a bit of fun to your outfit. A newcomer to Topshop, Mary Katrantzou showcased amazing textile digital print dresses for Spring/Summer and Givenchy was just one of all designers who included the summer white into their collections. The carryover from Autumn/Winter is skirt length. A/W saw skirts lengthen as far as you liked with some designers and retailers producing skirts which you could amend yourself to shorten!(Hobbs) Next season is all about length in the skirt, from mid-calf to floor length it seems that mini's are out according to Vogue. Spring/Summer 2011 seems to be full of colour and flattering shapes for all sizes. A very successful season is approaching!

Spring/Summer 2011

Curves Return to the Catwalk

In 2006 being regarded as a size zero hit a new peak in fashion. If you weren’t a ‘clothes hanger’ for designers then you would not have been noticed. Now nearly five years on, the boyish shapes have been replaced by curvaceous wonders. When Crystal Renn - a model for Jean-Paul Gaultier - was told by her first modelling agency at the age of 14 to lose almost have her body weight, she shrank under the size zero mark. Now it’s 2010 and she’s a healthy and happy size 16 who conquered the catwalk at Gaultiers Spring/Summer 2011 show. However the main event of the show was not young Crystal but eccentric, some may say ‘crazy’, Beth Ditto. She opened the show in a fantastic sheered satin dress and amazed the crowd. At the end of the show she returned to the catwalk with Jean-Paul and burst into song while the crowd and Gaultier enjoyed an exhibit of 3D fabrics. It may not sound like your run off the mill fashion show, but when it’s a Gaultier fashion show anything can happen! Hopefully the iconic designer has done enough to finally push the size zero sensation out the window and start a new fixation that, curvy is worthy.
