The ‘Leadership in Global Change’ summerschool provides an unbeatable opportunity to gaina new understanding of the critical issues that faceall of us.

Students willdevelop transferable skills and knowledge whichnot only sounds great on paper but is a realexperience that will stay with them for the rest oftheir lives.”

Partnering with professional school educatorsand the ECI academics, our LIGC team havedesigned an entirely new course which will enablethe ECI’s academic experts to engage, excite andempower the young people whose futuredecisions will shape the world.

LIGC has been created and is run in collaboration with the ECI but the courses are not accredited by Oxford University

Leadership in Global Change (LIGC) is an Oxford-based social enterprise (non-profit) creatingopportunities for teenagers to engage with excitingnew solutions to climate change and sustainability,and explore options for their own careers. We work in collaboration with the EnvironmentalChange Institute, University of Oxford, a worldleading research centre on Climate Change andrelated issues, the Ellen MacArthur Foundation,thought leaders on one of the most excitingapproaches to solving global resource issues: theCircular Economy, and other pioneering organisations. Now in our fifth year, we are able to connect studentsto an expanding range of opportunities to suit theirparticular interests. You will build knowledge, skills,and confidence that will help you  turn your passioninto your career.

A Summer Experience Your days will be filled withintense discussion and debatewith peers, mentors andexperts, and your evenings full of the delights that Oxfordand London have to offer.Weekends will take you onexplorations further afield. You will be extremely welllooked after by ourexperienced pastoral staffwho live and work with youthroughout your stay.  With small numbers ourgroups bond quickly andstrongly and make importantconnections and friendships.

You will engage with OxfordUniversity scientists, and explorethe ancient buildings andwoodlands of the University.You will meet entrepreneursfrom the cutting edge of climatesolutions, and politiciansharnessing the hopes and fearsof communities. You will be challenged and yourmind will be stretched, and youwill love it.

We expect a lot from our land - resources, amenity,food, water, carbon absorption- and with a growingglobal population, competition for space is fierce.The way we manage it will determine the futurehealth and wellbeing of everyone on earth. Working with Wytham Woods and the Hill EndCentre on the Wytham Estate, we will be looking atfood from farm to supermarket, and land use fromforest to farm, along the way looking for answersfrom farmers, business people, and scientists.
