WHY CHANGE THE SITE IDENTIFICATION PROCESS?
• Environmental protection drivers o Consistent application at all sites across the province
o Provide solutions to known problems (to prevent high risk situation from occurring)
• Ensure timely site investigation and remediation of contaminated sites upon decommissioning and prior to reuse of these sites
• Improve transparency and certainty of process for local governments and property owners o Provide stakeholders with an automatic, clear and predictable
process
