3 Design of options and accessories3.1 Pressure switch /PS

The pressure switch indicates the correct oil pressure in the pressure pipe and in thisway indicates the operational readiness of pressure lubrication. The pressure switchmust be monitored by the operator.During the starting phase of a gear unit with shaft end pump, pressure might build upwith a delay. The slow building up of pressure during this phase can cause the pres-sure switch to issue a fault signal. You can prevent this by timing the pressure switchto 5 seconds up to a maximum of 10 seconds.Another switch-off delay is not permitted as this might damage the gear unit.

3.2 Water cooling cartridge /CCTFor connection to the cooling circuit, the following 2 bores are available with• Pipe thread G1 1/4" for sizes X140 to 170• Pipe thread G1 1/2" for sizes X180 to 320The piping is not included in the delivery.

4 Installation/mountingLimit temperature for gear unit start

Revision – X.. Series Helical and Bevel-Helical Gear Units8

4 Installation/mounting4.1 Limit temperature for gear unit start

The minimum permitted ambient temperature / oil temperature for gear unit start de-pends on the viscosity of the oil used and the lubrication type of the gear unit. The fol-lowing minimum temperatures may deviate in individual cases. Observe the order-specific "Addendum to the Operating Instructions".

NOTICEStarting the gear unit below the permitted minimum oil temperature may damage theunit.

Possible damage to property.

• Observe the specified start temperatures for gear unit start.

INFORMATIONThe following tables show the limit temperatures for starting X.. series gear units(minimum ambient temperatures) without oil heater. The gear unit of the X.. seriesand oil supply systems with heating elements can be heated to the minimum requiredstart temperature if the ambient temperature is too low.

4.1.1 Mineral oil

Minimum temperature for gear unit start

Lubrication type DescriptionLubricants

ISO VG320 ISO VG220 ISO VG150Splashbath lubrication

Initial temperature for gear unit start (minimum permitted oil bath temperature) -12 °C -15 °C -20 °C

Pressure lubrication with shaftend pump

Initial temperature for gear unit start (minimum permitted oil bath temperature) +5 °C 0 °C -5 °C

Pressure lubrication with motorpump

Initial temperature for gear unit start(minimum permitted oil bath temperature) +15 °C +10 °C +5 °C

4.1.2 Synthetic oil

Minimum temperature for gear unit start

Lubrication type DescriptionLubricants

ISO VG320 ISO VG220 ISO VG150Splashbath lubrication

Start temperature for gear unit start (minimum permitted oil bath temperature) -25 °C -25 °C -25 °C

Pressure lubrication with shaftend pump

Start temperature for gear unit start (minimum permitted oil bath temperature) -5 °C -8 °C -15 °C

Pressure lubrication with motorpump

Start temperature for gear unit start (minimum permitted oil bath temperature) +8 °C +3 °C -3 °C

INFORMATIONThe specified temperatures refer to the average values of the permitted lubricantsbased on the lubricant table. In borderline cases, the permitted temperature of the lu-bricant that is actually being used must be verified. When planning the motor, ob-serve the increased starting torque at low temperatures. It may be necessary to con-tact SEW‑EURODRIVE.

4.2 Motor adapter /MA

4.2.1 Mounting 2 motors

Motor direction of rotation

When operating the gear unit with 2 motors [1], it is important that they have the samedirection of rotation with reference to the input shaft of the gear unit. The following figure shows an example of the direction of rotation.

[1][1]

13298345355

Motor weight

When using shaft-mounted X../T and flange-mounted X../F gear units, the total weightof the 2 motors must not exceed the permitted value of one motor (see the detailedoperating instructions for more information).

4.3 Filling the gear unit with oil4.3.1 Shaft end pump

Before startup, fill the additional mount-on components (such as piping, cooler matrix, etc.) with oil on the pressure side. This ensures that sufficient oil is in the overall sys-tem during startup. The oil filling holes are marked in the order dimension sheet.

4.4 Pressure switch /PSThe pressure switch indicates the correct oil pressure in the pressure pipe and in thisway indicates the operational readiness of pressure lubrication.

5 Inspection/maintenance5.1 Axial fan

CAUTIONThe protection cover can slip during assembly and disassembly.

Potential risk of crushing due to falling parts.

• Secure the protection cover against slipping during assembly and disassembly.

NOTICEImproper assembly after disassembly (for example for inspection purposes) of thefan guard can impact the fan.

Possible damage to property.

• After having removed a protection cover, install it again using only original SEWparts and adhering to the defined clearance to the fan. Non-adherence cancause the axial fan to contact the protection cover. Do not separate the axial fanfrom the fan hub. Only qualified personnel is allowed to do so.
