The Canyon Roc Marathon boasts an international quality label awarded by the Union Cycliste

Internationale (UCI). It is therefore featured on the UCI Marathon Series calendar. The race will

serve as a qualifier for the Marathon World Championships and allow riders to win UCI points.

Participants are invited to consult the international regulations governing qualification quotas and

the UCI point-scoring scale (www.uci.ch).

Reconnaissances are not allowed for any Roc d’Azur races. Any person present on the courses who

does not have a frame plate corresponding to the race which is taking place at that time, will be

removed from the course and disqualified from his or her own race. Agreements have been

negotiated with landowners so that participants to cross their land. Our agreements are valid during

the 5 days of the event and only for the number of race numbers issued. As a result, only the profiles

of the races will be released. The exact itinerary of each race will be available for consultation when

you collect your race number (at the Base Nature François Léotard in Fréjus)

3. PARTICIPATION CONDITIONS

Races are open to all male and female riders, licence holders and non-licence holders, subject to the following conditions. Participants with a competitive cycling licence issued by a French federation (FFC, UFOLEP, FSGT, FFTRI) are required to present their 2017 licence or provide a photocopy of it when they collect their race numbers. All other participants (with licences issued by national federations other than those mentioned above) will need to provide an original or a photocopy of a medical certificate (dated no earlier than a year before the day of the race) stating that they are fit to take part in competitive cycling events. Parental consent is required for minors. Medical certificate and parental consent templates can be downloaded from the event website (www.rocazur.com). The medical certificate or 2017 licence must be provided when participants collect their bibs at the Base Nature François Léotard in Fréjus, and at no other time. Medical certificates sent in advance, by post or e-mail, will not be accepted. Participants must respect the instructions of the organisation’s personnel, the police force and are subject to respecting the “code de la route” (French Highway Code). Participants must remain in control of their bikes and pay attention to the other participants, cyclists and pedestrians potentially present on the courses. SPECIFIC RULES CONCERNING THE TRI ROC Tri Roc participants must present a 2017 FFTri licence. If you are unable to provide an original or a photocopy of this document, a medical certificate (dated no earlier than a year before the day of the race) stating that you are fit to take part in a competitive triathlon will be required. Competitors without licences will also be required to register for an FFTri day pass.

Moving around inside the transition area, both before and during the event, will only be allowed on foot, pushing bikes. Audio devices (MP3 players, Walkmans, iPods) are totally forbidden throughout the event. Audio devices (MP3 players, Walkmans, iPods) are totally forbidden throughout the event. SPECIFIC RULES CONCERNING THE GRAVEL ROC: The participants in the Gravel Roc must ride a cyclocross bike or a Gravel bike. Road handlebars mandatory. Mountain bikes are strictly forbidden. Anyone participating in this race with a MTB will be disqualified.

In order to participate in the 2017 Roc d’Azur, competitors must accept these rules unconditionally and in their entirety.

CONDITIONS OF ACCESS TO RACE STARTS

Access to the start lines of races beginning at the Base Nature François Léotard in Fréjus is organised using a gridding procedure by which the race numbers allowed to proceed through the gates to the start line are announced in groups.

If a participant starts the race without going through the gridding procedure, his participation will be considered invalid, and he will not be included in the ranking.

In the “Hommes et Espoirs Hommes” category of the “Roc d’Azur” race, only the distinctive jerseys of international (World, European) and national champions in the “Hommes” category (Elite, UCI) will be included in the first start.

Participants must have their helmets on their heads with the chin strap attached from the moment

they arrive at the start until the end of the race.

Any participant who does not have the compulsory equipment at the start of the race will not be

allowed to compete. Any participant who does not have the compulsory equipment during the race

may be removed from the course or receive a time penalty.

In the event that a participant fails to respect the rules on compulsory equipment, the Organiser

cannot be held responsible for any incidents that arise, or their consequences.

10. TIMING

XC / EnduRoc / EnduRoc Electrique / Tri Roc Races

Timing will be adapted depending on each race’s format and constraints. You will receive your timing

device when you collect your race number.

The EnduRoc and the EnduRoc Electriqu ranking will be established by adding the time taken for each

special.

The Roc Trophy ranking will be established as follows: every day there will be a ranking and a prize

giving ceremony for the stage of the day and the overall ranking.

Rando races

Rando races are also timed. However, there will be no final ranking for these events.

If a participant starts the race without going through the gridding procedure, his participation will be

considered invalid, and he will not be included in the ranking.

11. FEEDING STATIONS & MAINTENANCE

Feeding stations will be at the riders’ disposal.

Participants will only have access to refreshment points on the day of the race for which they are

registered.

Participants must ensure that, when they leave feeding stations, they have enough food and water to

reach the following station.

Maintenance is strictly limited to the “feeding station” areas. It is strictly forbidden to change bikes

or wheels during a race. Participants are allowed to offer one another technical assistance.

As set out in the regulations (Art. 4.2.048 of the UCI Cycling Regulations), participants and their UCI

MTB or national teams are responsible for placing their equipment in the technical assistance area.

Only the riders themselves or their teammates (from the same UCI MTB team or the same national

team) can repair or change equipment within this area. Members from the same UCI MTB team or

national team are also allowed to provide technical assistance to one another outside these areas

(Art. 4.2.049 of the UCI Cycling Regulations). The technical assistance areas are the same as the

refreshment areas.

No follower vehicles are allowed. It is strictly forbidden for any vehicle to enter the forest.

Only official motorcycles are allowed on the circuit; these will be clearly marked and their riders will

be wearing official bibs. There will be a limited number for each race, and they will be easy to

identify:

An opening motorcycle;

A race commentary motorcycle for the finish line;

A race management motorcycle;

A press motorcycle (camera);

A doctor’s motorcycle;

A sweep motorcycle.

If a participant falls during the EnduRoc, the other riders are responsible for stopping to raise the

alarm. Any participant who has stopped to help another participant during a special should inform

an official at the finish line. He will be allowed to start the special again.

In the Tri Roc, participants are not allowed to help one another.

12. RESPECT FOR THE ENVIRONMENT

In order to respect the environment and the natural surroundings in which the event takes place, it is

strictly forbidden to leave litter (paper, plastic wrappers) on the course. Bins will be provided at all

feeding stations. Participants must make use of these when disposing of waste.

Waste collection points will also be set up at strategic points along each course. Participants can

dispose of waste in these areas, which will be marked by netting placed on the ground. The locations

of these areas will be published on the event website (www.rocazur.com).

Participants must hold onto their litter and wrappers and wait until they reach the places set up by

the organisation to dispose of them.

Any contestant seen breaking these rules will be disqualified from the race in question by an official

controller or a member of the organisation.

13. RANKINGS / PRIZES

Rankings will be established for every race except the rando races.

These rankings will take into account the categories specific to each race, which have been

determined in advance.

Not every category awards prizes to its winners.

Prize winners must be present at the prize giving ceremony. If they are absent they will not receive

their prizes.

Some races have their own prize grid. The grid can be consulted below.

15. TIME LIMITS

To guarantee participants’ safety, it is vital that they do not go over the time limit set for the end of

each race.

Cut-off times will be arranged at various points along the course (feeding stations). After the cut-off

time listed for each point, it will no longer be possible for riders to leave the location by the main

race route. End of race shuttles will be set up by the Organisation to take the last participants from

these strategic points to the nature base.

In the Tri Roc, all participants will need to have reached the transition area between mountain biking

and running (T2) by 4 hours after the race start at the latest. After this point, participants will not be

allowed to take part in the running stage.

The chief race steward has the power to modify this elimination cut-off time.

16. MEDICAL AID

Medical assistance will be provided by doctors and mobile emergency aid units. If they are needed,

these units can be called by the signallers posted along each course, who are equipped with radio

transmitters. If advised to do so by a doctor, the Organiser reserves the right to withdraw any

participant deemed unfit to continue from the race and have them escorted from the site. Any

competitor who requests attention from a doctor or first-aid worker agrees to fully accept their

authority and judgement.

If need be, in the interests of the person in question, the emergency services will be called. From that

point on, the emergency services will take charge of the situation and use any means they deem

appropriate, including transport by helicopter.
