Congratulations to Jean Rak who suggested the
name for our newsletter. “From the Stacks”
was the overwhelming choice of the selection
committee.
As the winner, Jean received over one dozen
books — some of them autographed by the
author — a book bag, and other publisher
giveaways.
Look for From the Stacks at the library and in
your email each month.

Aristocrat Anne Eliot turns down a marriage proposal from the Naval officer she loves after being convinced by friends and family that his rank and lack of fortune are not worthy of her. Seven years later, she finds her-self alone and still in love with him. Written at the end of the Napoleonic Wars, Persuasion examines the societal shifts that the upper class strug-gled with at the time. Discussion over cookies and tea Monday, March 30th 7:00 pm.

The Book Group pick for March is Persuasion by Jane Austen. Austen’s last novel, Per-suasion is a biting satire about social life in the fashionable city of Bath.
"I can listen no longer in silence. I must speak to you by such
means as are within my reach. You pierce my soul. I am half
agony, half hope. Tell me not that I am too late, that such precious
feelings are gone for ever.”

Free Driver’s Ed Program
We are pleased to announce a new partnership with Driving-Tests.org, one of the na-tion’s top sites for driver’s license practice tests. The partnership will strengthen the library’s mission to be a vital gateway to information. The new service includes free tests written specifically based on Illinois DMV materials and is the only site of
its kind to include accessibility tools that allow users to hear selections read aloud, make them into MP3s, translate pages into other languages, magnify text, and mask sections of
the screen for greater visibility on driving practice tests.
You can link to the tests through
our website rivergrovelibrary.org
or go directly to the Driving-
Tests.org partner site at
rgpld.driving-tests.org.

Do you like your murders without gore? Try a cozy mystery. Every “cozy”, involves an amateur sleuth with a career or hobby that plays an important role in the solving of the mystery. They often have a friendly relationship with a medical profes-sional or police officer who gives them access to information they wouldn’t ordinarily have — information that helps them solve the crime. Cozies can take place at any point in time and in any place in the world. However, the mystery must happen in a town small enough that people know each other. Violence and relationships happen “off screen,” making a cozy the type of book you’d share with your grandmother.
Popular cozy series include: Tea Shop Mystery series Laura Childs The Cat Who … series Lillian Jackson Braun Puzzle Lady Mysteries Parnell Hall Hannah Swensen series Joanne Fluke If you’d like to investigate a cozy mystery, give us a call or stop by the library. We’ll be glad to clue you in.
