    The Rhodes Scholarships represent one of the most visionary acts of philanthropy

    the world has ever seen.

    Established in 1903 by Cecil Rhodes, an immensely successful business and political

    leader, the Rhodes Scholarships support exceptional all-round graduate students with

    instincts to lead for study at the University of Oxford.

    Rhodes Scholars join an international network of leaders from business, politics and academia - a

    network unparalleled globally which includes numerous Presidents, Prime Ministers, CEOs, and

    recipients of prestigious awards, including, the Nobel Prize, the Pulitzer Prize and Olympic

    Medals .

    Subject to limited restrictions, Rhodes Scholars may read for any full-time postgraduate

    degree (including the BA with senior status over two years) at the University of Oxford

    Basic tenure of the Scholarship is two years, subject always, and at all times, to

    satisfactory academic performance and personal conduct.

    At the discretion of the Trustees, the Scholarship may be extended for a third year for

    those who take a recognized route to the DPhil.

    The Masters of Business Administration (MBA) and the Masters of Financial Economics

    (MFE) are only tenable in the second year of the Scholarship

    A personal stipend which is fixed by the Trustees (13,390 per annum 2013-14)

    Private health insurance, currently offered through BUPA

    One economy class airfare to Oxford at the start of the scholarship and one economy

    flight back to the student's home country at the conclusion of the scholarship

    The Rhodes Scholarships provide for full tuition and a stipend to live on.

    Rhodes Scholars live in Oxford colleges.

    They also belong to a Rhodes community, based at Rhodes House, with regular

    social, intellectual, and cultural activities, and excellent pastoral care.

    Rhodes Scholars connect in Oxford with exceptional young people from many other

    countries.
