Aerholl Son R. Ramos ‘16 BS Civil Engineering UP Diliman Batch 4, RHS 2011

Achieving your dreams is not easy. It would be a hard long journey, full of highs and lows, and it would require you to make a number of life-changing decisions. Decisions that would eventually get you to where you want to be. Good thing God has given us people that would not just guide us and pick us up when we’re down, but also pro-vide us extra joy and encouragement, which they are more than willing to give.

Nine years ago, I passed the entrance exam in Pasig City Science High School. By then, my mom had already decided to enroll me there. However, my closest friends were planning to take the en-trance exam for the science curriculum of Rizal High School and I would’ve liked to go to the same school as them. So I made a deal with my mom that I would enroll in Rizal High School but only if I could be part of the science curriculum sections. Fortunately, my friends and I passed the entrance exam and that became my first life-changing decision.

During my 4 years of high school, I made deeper connections with my friends, and made new ones. There were lots of moments wherein we just enjoyed being young, and talked just about any-thing, without worry of what will happen when we leave high school. But there were also times when we talked about college and our goals in life. I was certain back then that I would be an accountant someday.

Upon entering college however, I made my next life-changing decision: I want to be an engineer. After five years of college life full of fun and exciting experiences, I finally graduated from the premier university of the country. And I wouldn’t have done it without the help of the Rizal High School Alumni Association of North America Financial Grant. The money I received from their initiative covered much of my expenses during college. Even after I changed my course, they continued to encourage me to finish my studies. It’s nice to know that aside from your family, there are people out there who are willing to support you no matter what. That is why, when I achieve my dreams and become successful in the future, I want to be a blessing to others just like what they were to me.

Now that I had finished my degree, I am very grateful that I made that decision nine years ago. It’s not just one of the first, but it is one of the best. It’s true that the people you are surrounded with really matter in the process of knowing who you are as a person and who you want to be in the future. I still haven’t achieved my dreams, not yet. But hopefully years from now, I could finally see and share with others what awaits me at the peak of this journey.

Emmeline Sablay Barte ‘16 BS Civil Engineering UP Diliman Batch 4, RHS 2011

A very special day has come which makes the past five years a lot more meaningful and colorful. The five years that taught me how to be a real person. The five years of a bucket that is full of experiences, memo-ries, and challenges. The five years of hap-piness, glooms, ups, and downs. The five years that gave me the best people in my life. And the five years that makes me who I am today.

Today, I am very proud to say that I was a “Iskolar para sa Bayan”. UP had taught me a lot. The completion of the degree in BS Civil Engineering is a milestone for us students. This is the most difficult task that I had done. The challenges and experiences Col-lege of Engineering exposed us had given us the chance to ex-plore our true talents and skills.

But all of these would not have been possible were it not for the people behind this success. To Rizal High School Alumni Associa-tion of North America (RHSAA, NA), thank you for becoming my inspiration all throughout my college life. Being a scholar of my Alma Mater is a great opportunity and honor to us Rizalians. Rizal High School is one of the pioneers in self development. It serves as the foundation of knowledge and skills that are required in college. Without a doubt, this scholarship played a key role in achieving my educational dreams. My parents alone could not have supported 100% of my school expenses. Being a scholar of the said program was such a very big help, not only for me but also to my family.

I would like to take this opportunity also to thank Mr. Mark Del

Additional FAP Graduates of 2016

Rosario for referring and helping us to have this scholarship.

The diploma that I will be receiving this June will not only be for my family but will also be offered to RHSAA, NA. Thank you for continuously helping our co-Rizalians. With these, I hope that I will be able to serve well my community, for in the future I might have the ability to help less fortunate families especially in the edu-cation of their children.

October 28, 2016 Ms. Estrella Alan-Stephens President, RHSAA, NA

Dear Ms. Alan-Stephens,

Congratulations to our successful RHS Alumni Association under your leadership. I am sorry I missed the 25th Anniversary Celebra-tion. Your souvenir program is great and all the activities depicted in the program look marvelous.

On another topic, I have attached pictures of my personal contri-bution to our alma mater, Rizal High for improvement of the Reading Room, amounting to $10, 000. An award winning charita-ble group namely “Feed the Hungry Inc.” helped me get it done. Hopefully this will stimulate other alumni to help our high school in Pasig, Metro Manila.

Thanks and regards to you and your family and our alumni.

Sincerely,

Bayani L. Manalo, M.D., FACP, FACG

It also pays tribute to the Aeta, the indige-nous people known to be the early settlers of the area. The event starts with a mass, fol-lowed by a procession that

begins with rhythmic drumbeats, and dancers parading along the street. Individuals & groups participate in this weeklong event. Their costumes are made of all natural products such as corn, seeds, feathers, etc.

Cont. President Message on page 2

This is our third time to hold our reunion event in this Resort because they Catering Manager always give us a better hall and food services.

Those alumni who arrived on Friday and early Saturday were among the attendees during our morning event which started at 10 am. We served coffee, tea and muffins. There were seven symposi-um speakers who delivered their prepared speeches. Most of the speakers revealed their experiences, how they adopted their new life with their families adopting the American culture. I, myself could relate the same experience. I persevered to achieve a better standard of living for my family. We had a 20 minute break and continued till 1:30 pm after RHS hymn practice.

The evening affair was composed of an oath taking of the new officers led by Luz Micabalo ‘54*. I gave my welcome address, Nory Geluz ‘65* led the singing of RHS Hymn he composed. After the sumptuous dinner, we had dancing, door prize and raffle drawings and Batch ‘66 special dance performance. Everyone en-joyed dancing to the music beat played by DJ Conrad. Ludie Litz ‘66* and Nory Geluz ’65* were the Masters of Ceremony of the night.
