Rhyl HarbourIntroduction

Introduction

Rhyl Harbour is located on the spectacular North Wales Coast and hasundergone a dramatic refurbishment which has hugely improved thefacilities on offer. The original timber yard which was used by sailingships up until the 2nd world war, has been redeveloped and now offersstorage for over 150 boats.

A new 65mtr launching slipway, pontoons and quay walls have alsobeen installed as part of the redevelopment. The harbour now offers arange of fore and aft moorings and pontoon berths. Access from theslipway is available 2.5 hours either side of high water. Our team work 7days a week all year round. Operating hours are 08:00—20:00 fromMay—September (tide permitting) and 09:00—17:00 during the wintermonths.

The spectacular Pont y Ddraig Pedestrian / Cycle Bridge is well worth aview. Opened in October 2013, the bridge closes the gap on NationalCycle Network Route 5, which runs along the North Wales coast line. This route provides traffic free access to the ‘Wales Coastal Path’ as wellas to the new Harbour facilities. The bridge opens to allow vessels inand out of the harbour, and is operated from the harbour office withinthe quayside building.

Just over the road from the Harbour is Marine Lake, the only salt waterlake in North Wales. Twelve hectares and relatively sheltered, MarineLake is perfect for sailing dinghies or kayakers. For those who don’t liketo get wet, have a walk round the Lake taking in our new EnvironmentalTrail, spot some of the wildlife, have a go crabbing or take a ride on theMiniature Railway, the oldest in the UK and operated by Rhyl SteamPreservation Trust.
