WEEK 26
RI THEME 2020-2021
GBAGADAExpressClub of GbagadaDistrict 9110 Nigeria
On behalf of 2020-2021 Board and members of our great Club, we commiserate with the District Governor, District Leaders, members of his Club, RC Lagos Central and his immediate family le behind. May Almighty God grant us all the fortude to bear this irreparable loss.
In view of the above, I made several consultaons with members of the Board and leaders of our club. The general consensus is that physical meengs should henceforth be put on hold unl such a me when the curve of this sudden surge in COVID-19 cases is flaened.
In the last few days, and in quick succession, the rise of the second wave of COVID-19 has aained a dangerous dimension. This has led the Lagos State Government to issue fresh direcves on protocols to be observed in different sectors of the State, while also closing down some sectors.
The upgraded and repackaged Global Grant Microcredit scheme remains the biggest so far by any Club in District 9110. Its posive impact in the area will be far-reaching. While sll savouring the success of the Ososa Microcredit scheme which started some 11 years ago with one million Naira, Rotarians in our District woke up on Sunday 20th December to the sad news of the demise of PDG Olugbemiga Olowu who died in the course of serving humanity in faraway Cairo, Egypt. However, we are consoled that he lived a fulfilled, impacul and purposeful life.
The colourful event was the distribuon of cheques to traders, arsans and other small business owners in Ososa and its environs. A whopping sum of 13.5 million Naira revolving loan was disbursed to 200 beneficiaries, aer they were trained on the basics of business and book keeping by volunteer Rotarians who are experts.
You are welcome into the 26th week in this 2020-2021 Rotary year, the week of Christmas.
Fellow Rotarians,
Last Wednesday, 16th December, 2020, the town of Ososa was agog as it played host to our District Governor Bola Oyebade, members of RC Gbagada as well as members of RC Ann Arbor North D6380 USA joined the event via the zoom plaorm. I wish to inform all members that the Board has
considered and granted approval to the request made by the Sergeant at arms, Rotn. Niyi Adekunle, for dispensaon to host December Board meeng on Sunday 27th December, 2020.
Only Board members will be required to aend the meeng physically while observing all COVID-19 protocols. Commiee Chairmen are expected to submit so copies of their half-year report to [email protected] on or before the date. There will be an alternave virtual opon for all other members of the Club to be a part of the Board meeng.
Name: Rotary Club of GbagadaNumber: 1770013352.
Finally, I want to thank all members of our Club that have paid their annual dues for this Rotary year either in full or part. May Almighty God connue to provide for you. Other members who are yet to pay for this half year can sll do so on or before 26th December, 2020 in order to avoid their membership being rested.
Kindly pay your dues into the Club's Polaris Bank account;
The new health emergency has also affected our annual outreach to felicitate with in-paents, nursing mothers and new babies at Gbagada General Hospital on Christmas Day as this will also not hold this year.
Passcode: RCG.
However, we will make necessary arrangements with the management of the hospital to assist the club in distribung branded gis to the paents, nursing mothers and staff on 25th December, 2020.

Till I come to this plaorm again next week, please stay safe, stay at home as much as possible and stay healthy.
I wish you and your families a merry Christmas, in advance.
President (2020-2021)
In the alternave, our weekly meeng will connue to hold virtually via our dedicated zoom plaorm.

Keep showing the good works of Rotary by leading your community to do great works at this auspicious me of the year.Enjoy all the content of this bullen for this week.Highest Rotary regards,
OLUTAYO IRANTIOLA
We have seen lots of leaders who have failed to lead by example. This is various rampant in the religious circles and corporate world. I will want to cite another scenario. The Editor of a business newspaper in the country blew open some can of worms lately. He spoke about the ill pracces of the Publ i sher of the newspaper- non-remiance of pensions, abrupt decision without consulng the management team; paying weekly bonuses his own purse amongst others.
At the start of the new week, the President-Elect of the United States of America, Joe Biden, was given the vaccine against the dreaded Coronavirus. This is one of the easiest ways of convincing people that he is a leader who believes in certain causes and he would stay with it so that other can follow his lead.
Yes, we all have a jusficaon that the firm was founded by the publisher but he is not showing the best example for youngsters.
Unfortunately, many younger people have imbibed these traits and they will connue to do same when they start their own companies. Leading by example is an opportunity to guide those coming behind; they would pick up the good values seen in their Bosses and carry on the great works even without a conversaon. This will in turn help to make the world a greater place. What are the things that you have done and people have made referral to the great deeds? From the Public Relaons point of view, the President-Elect has done well and this will also earn him lots of media aenon and accolades.

The percepon that success or failure is one giant event is one of the biggest believed fallacies of our me.
I know some people who wait for this big break. Expectant. Banking for a whim that eludes them.
For some their roune is hing the snooze buon and for others its jumping out of bed. The point is we all have these rituals whether we are aware of them or not. These rituals are responsible for our results - success or failure.
Unconsciously they believe that its all going to get beer someday. They say something significant is going to happen to them that will change everything.Such a posture of irresponsibility; relinquishing your personal power and surrendering it to something or someone outside of you.
Small steps taken consistently over a long me make a big difference. It takes a drop to cause an overflow...take that small step daily.
Success or Failure is a product of rituals. Rituals being a series of rounes that you carry out consciously or unconsciously daily.

A. MY ROTARY STORY-
Yours in Rotary,
I’ve been afforded a lot of opportunies from associaon to the rotary club worth menoning that I wouldn’t have come across ordinarily. Rotary club of Gbagada is a place to be, it’s fun, you can’t have a dull moment at Gbagada.
The rotary society has strengthened my support and parcipaon in humanitarian services. Being a Rotarian has made it possible for me to be involved in philanthropic acvies through my lile contribuon to the beerment of society. I look forward to being a PAUL HARRIS fellow.
I am Rotarian Adeyeye Paul Segun member of class 35 of Rotary club of Gbagada. When invited by Rotarian Bayo Erinle, I firstly needed to find out more about the beliefs of Rotary club to be sure it’s not against my belief and faith.Rotary club has given me the opportunity to meet and relate with professionals of various fields of study.
In the rotary club, my personality as an introvert is not a problem because interacon with fellow Rotarian is easy due to the friendly nature the society is based on.
Rotarian Adeyeye Paul Segun.
