In 2018, Richard Zheng was awarded the prestigious Wilfrid-Pelletier Scholarship by the Conservatoire de musique de Montréal, where he completed his Bachelor’s degree and Artist Diploma with Anne Robert in 2019. He is currently working on his Master’s degree with Andrés Cárdenes at Pittsburgh’s Carnegie Mellon University. Every summer since 2009, Richard Zheng has participated in Anne Robert’s master classes at the Orford Music Academy. He also attended several orchestral workshops in Europe from 2017 to 2019, including workshops with the Verbier Festival Orchestra in Switzerland and, as Concertmaster, with the Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival in Germany. Richard made his start in music at the age of eight, when he appeared as a guest artist of the Orchestre I Musici in their 2006 Future Stars concert. A finalist in I Musici’s 2017 violin auditions, Richard continued to perform as a supernumerary with the ensemble from 2017 to 2019. In 2018, he played as a soloist with the Orchestre symphonique du Conservatoire de musique de Montréal under Yoav Talmi. Richard Zheng has taken part in master classes with Christian Tetzlaff, Pierre Amoyal, and Leonidas Kavakos. Richard’s Storioni violin and Sartory bow are graciously provided by Canimex.
