With restrictions on parent visits to schools, it was impossible to celebrate Education Week in the traditional way so teachers had to come up with a creative way to share with parents and community the great learning that has been happening at Richmond North this year. With assistance from teachers, students put together class segments that showcased their skills and knowledge. Mr Morton worked hard with all classes to put together their finished packages. It was great to feature a visit from our local Federal Member of Parliament – Susan Templeman, who participated in an interview. We are lucky at Richmond North to have such a fantastic facility as our StudioK radio station and we really loved sharing our learning via this medium. We are looking at further opportunities to do an ‘all day’ radio broadcast in term 4, as well as also looking at planning a TV broadcast as well. School has certainly changed since I was a student. As parents have not been able to regularly visit school this term, you may not be aware of the progress of our new school playground upgrades. Thanks to generous funding from the Federal Government and Bendigo Bank, we have been able to add some new shade shelters, a sandpit area and car track to our school. We are now only days away from completion, so it won’t be too much longer until students can start using these new facilities. I would particularly like to acknowledge our school P&C who worked hard to source funding for this project. Great things happen when we all work together. This week, teachers at Richmond North will be undertaking professional learning in Visual Literacy and Film Making. Teachers will develop their skills in visual storytelling and film making processes. These skills will be most useful in teaching elements of the English Syllabus as well as promoting future focussed skills such as creativity and communication. Did you know that teachers are required to undertake regular professional learning as part of their reaccreditation process. Teachers must complete a minimum of 100 hours of professional learning within a 5 year period to retain their accreditation. This often requires teachers to complete professional learning activities after regular school hours, on weekends and sometimes during the holiday breaks. This ensures that teachers are constantly growing and are exposed to new ideas and excellent practice. 1

The SRC is a group of students. There is 1 person from everyclass and we meet every second week to discuss problems orthings that could make our school a better place. In each classwe have placed a suggestion box and if anyone from our classhas an idea then they can write it down and put it in there. We then discuss it with our fellow SRC members and help outwhere we can.
