Royal Easter Show

U13s Team Of Four-Flatwork

Congratulations to Rosie M and Maddilyn M who competed in the U13s Team of Four – Flatwork equestrian competition at the 2019 Royal Easter Show. The girls trained for three months for this huge event and Richmond Public School are very proud of their effort. Especially, as the girls are under 10 years of age and competing against 13 year old students. Well done on your Third Place ribbon, Rosie and Maddilyn! What an inspiring achievement.

Welcome Pre Service Teachers to

Richmond Public School

This term, Richmond Public School will again host a number of Pre Service teachers from Australian Catholic University. We would like to welcome Miss Ellen Callaghan on KT, Miss Hayley Leishman on 1/2C, Miss Zoe Brown on 1S, and Ms Melinda Jeffery on 5/6B. I know they will learn a lot from our amazing classroom practitioners about teaching and learning, planning, assessing, feedback, student wellbeing, departmental requirements and professional engagement with colleagues and community.

Welcome Miss Myhill This term we welcome a new teacher to our community, Miss Hayley Myhill. She is temporarily replacing Miss Peta O’Connor as class teacher on 3/4O for the remainder of this term. Miss O’Connor

is taking extended leave during this period of time. I know you will all join me in welcoming Miss Myhill to our lovely school. Miss Myhill will be delivering 3/4O’s Teaching and Learning program, planned by our Stage Two teachers. Ms Superina, Mrs Morris and Mrs Brkich will be working collaboratively with the support of Miss Myhill, to assess and communicate the academic progress of 3/4O for their Semester One Student Reports. These reports are due to go home later this term, on 3 July, 2019.

OPAL Cards – Student Purchasing – A Notice for our Recorder Ensemble! OPAL cards are now the primary form of transaction when using any type of public transport, particularly trains and buses. Our students have been provided OPAL cards for their bus travel and are required to have two cards if they have two destinations over the week. Over time, particularly in the Hawkesbury, train stations have omitted train guards and over the counter ticket sales and have replaced them with OPAL Card ‘tap on/tap off‘ machines. This is now making it very difficult for schools that in the past were able to bulk purchase tickets prior to the train trip/excursion. Logistically, it is also difficult for schools to purchase 30 OPAL Cards for an excursion and maintain the process. Therefore, I suggest families purchase a child OPAL Card and have it topped with approximately $20 in credit. In particular, I encourage our Recorder Ensemble students to fulfil this purchase as they are travelling by train on Tuesday, 25 June (Week 9 of this term) to The Salvation Army Hall in the city and then later to the Opera House to perform. This is a very exciting experience for our talented students. For more information on OPAL Cards please go to https://apps.transport.nsw.gov.au/ssts/home#/howToApply

P&C News

Thank you to the parents who came to our last P&C Meeting. Your attendance and input was greatly appreciated. I would like to welcome the new parents that joined us on that evening, it’s great to see new faces. I encourage all parents to join us at P&C Meetings as it’s a great opportunity to meet new people, have an input to school events and know what is happening around the school firsthand. At our last meeting the P&C donated $4000 to Richmond Public School for extra curricular activities. This will help our dance group, band etc. Goodluck to all the groups for 2019. Wear your Team Colors mufti day, Wednesday 5, June. It’s great seeing the different sports and all the different teams the children and the staff support. Don’t forget it’s a gold coin donation. Continue to collect your Earn and Learn stickers. You can place them in the box outside RICHMOND Woolworths or can be dropped into the box inside the school office. Planning and preparations are underway for term 3 events. If you would like to volunteer at any of the upcoming events, please make sure you have a working with children’s check. This can be accessed by the below link and submitted to the school office. Without volunteers, big events like Mother’s Day stalls and BBQ, Father’s Day stalls and BBQ and carols on the green can’t go ahead. https://www.service.nsw.gov.au/transaction/apply-working-children-check The next P&C meeting is

Monday, 24 June. All are invited to attend and join as a member. The lovely staff of Richmond Public School provides babysitting if required. If you would like to discuss something or have a suggestions, please forward it to [email protected] and we can address this at an upcoming meeting. Thank you for your continued support. Canteen News Thank you to Joel our Area Health Promotion Officer from the Live Life Well @ School Team who presented us with a Nutri Bullet blender on Monday

20th May. We won this for passing our Healthy Menu Check and sharing the results. Pictured is a wonderful canteen volunteer Dad named Ruben and Joel from Live Life Well. Last Week was National Volunteer Week (May 20-26). All the volunteers have an enormous impact within our wonderful school community. I’d like to thank the parents and carers who volunteer in the canteen. As this is a P&C run canteen, we are operated solely by volunteers who give up their time to help serve our students. Without their assistance we simply could not open. Thank you!

Spotlight on…….Milky / Juice / Custard Pops!

I often get asked “what is a milky pop?” by parents / carers so I thought I would let you all know. These are a 20ml frozen treat that the kids absolutely love! They are one of our biggest sellers. They are simply flavoured milk, juice or custard poured into a 20ml cup and frozen. Each one is a healthy, everyday choice so can be consumed daily.

Rainbow of Food Recipe – Green or red Cinnamon Apple Crisps (www.taste.com)

3 apples (thinly sliced)

3 tsp agave syrup

1/2 tsp ground cinnamon

1. Heat oven to 100°C (80°C fan-forced) and line

two oven trays with baking paper.

2. Toss apples with agave nectar and dust with

cinnamon.

3. Line trays with a single layer of apples and

bake for 2 hours (a little longer if your slices

are thicker).

4. Remove chips from oven together with the

baking paper and cool on a wire rack (lift

them a little from the paper to make sure
