Rig ManagerDevelopment Programme
Rig Manager Development ProgrammeThe Rig Manager Development Programme will prepare you for a leadership career in Maersk Drilling.
The greater part of the programme con-
sists of the mandatory onshore trainee-
ship where you will start with a 2 – 3 month
introduction at our HQ in Lyngby (Greater
Copenhagen). You will become acquainted
with the majority of the departments and,
most importantly, Operations. In the begin-
ning, you will be assigned a mentor to guide
you through the whole programme, and
you will also receive a learning plan for your
next rotation.
The programme also includes time off-
shore, where you will experience a number
of rotations on Maersk Drilling rigs. If you
do not already have offshore experience,
you will complete up to 15 months of
rotations on a rig.
ONSHORE PROGRAMME
The onshore programme offers you rota-
tions with different Rig Teams in various
locations around the world. Your trainee-
ship will prepare you for great perfor-
mance in your future job role. This means
upon graduation, you can expect to assist
a Rig Manager in his or her daily tasks,
including rig operations, maintenance,
reporting and budgeting, as well as com-
mercial, HR and other matters.
OFFSHORE PROGRAMME
The aim of the offshore programme is to
acquaint you with life offshore, so you are
familiar with the various job roles, respon-
sibilities and daily routines, and possibly
tackle extraordinary situations that may
arise. This is important when working as
an onshore Rig Manager, as you will be
in constant contact with your offshore
colleagues. Theoretical knowledge may
be necessary to find correct solutions, but
your offshore experience will be the key to
reacting quickly and efficiently in which-
ever situations occur on the rig. Equally
important, people contacting you for as-
sistance will be able to trust that you are
on the same page.
We will plan your rotations in a way that
ensures you get the most out of your
months spent offshore. You will be as-
signed a supervisor to guide and assist
you through the offshore programme.
Further, you will participate in different
stages of rig operations and learn about
the organisation and reporting structure.
Depending on the location, your sched-
ule will likely be 28 days offshore and 28
days onshore. Actual rotation plans and
locations will depend on our contractual

situation and business needs, and can
therefore change.
TRAINING AND COURSES
You will receive training courses during
your onshore rotations. We believe this
creates a good foundation and adds to
the practical hands-on knowledge you
will also receive. Some courses involve
traveling and will be provided by special-
ised training centres. Others are organised
in-house and online.
You will hold the ultimate responsibility for
planning your course schedule with your
manager and our training department.
