“My goal is to become a proessor and
teach science the same way they do at
Ripon. The proessors do a lot o research
on their own and still run extremely
interesting classes.”
“I grew up in the suburbs of Chicago.A debilitating myth in those kinds oftowns is that college is something youcan only accomplish, achieve andgo to if you’ve somehow been ableto academically excel and get a fullride. The myth isn’t true. It is completelypossible to go to a school like Ripon andget a fantastic education.”
“I majored in chemistry
and history with a minor
in economics. I think
the humanities have
a very important
place in teaching
critical-thinking and
writing skills. That’s
why I continue to take
history courses and
participate in orensics.
These activities orce me to
think outside o the basic
box that is science. It’s
really important to step
outside your general field
o knowledge. Otherwise,
you don’t really know how
to do much o anything
else.”
SCHOLARSHIPSScholarships of up to $5,000 per year

compete as a member of

“At Ripon, I did more hands-on work than I
probably could have at any other school.
This experience is invaluable. At bigger
schools, you might get more access to big-
name professors and big-time research, but
it is often the professor
accomplishing those
things rather than
the students.”

& sCHOlaRsHipRipon College is widely recognized as an institutionthat fosters student research and scholarship. We’dlike to think this tradition is a major reason why ourstudents excel so quickly upon graduating.
Our intentionally small size and 100-percentdedication to undergraduate education allowsfaculty the flexibility necessary to connect with you asmentors, teachers, collaborators and colleagues.
Ripon College students working with faculty inchemistry and biology have contributed to majorresearch undertakings sponsored by the NationalScience Foundation, American Chemical Society andmore, and have had their work featured in NatureProtocols Exchange and other publications. Their workhas extraordinary variety, everything from the processof creating new biodegradable plastics to exploringthe energy potential of a termite’s gut.
Students in the humanities regularly travel to literature, classics, drama, politics and government and otherconferences to present the work they’ve undertakenat Ripon College. Over the past year alone, a numberof students have had their work published, and agroup of history majors even had a book published in2014.
