Mission Statement• The Purchasing and Central Stores Division of the City of
Lakeland is responsible for the procurement of materials,supplies, equipment, and services at the lowest possible costconsistent with the quality needed to provide the very bestservice to the public.
• The primary objectives of the Purchasing Division are toobtain maximum quality, value, and service; and our goal isthe promotion of fair dealings WITH YOU that will result inobtaining the maximum value for each dollar of expenditure.

Local Vendor Preference
• Resolution #3325, December, 1989, authorized application ofa two percent local preference for bidders whose “principalplace of business” is located within the City limits.
• Resolution #3634, January, 1994, defined local persons, firmsor corporations as those which “maintain a significantbusiness activity” located within the City limits; established alimit of the preference of any single bid not to exceed$10,000.
