GCEP Overview
The GCEP program was created as a response to the growing demand for individuals who are at home in today’s rapidly globalizing business world. Through engaging in discussions with APU’s international student body, participating in classes taught by our d iverse facul ty, and broadening hor izons through l i fe in our international dormitory, we aim to encourage par t ic ipants to re-examine their way of thinking, build language and negotiation skills, develop cross-cultural understanding, and learn to adapt to new environments. The GCEP program opens the door to a career on the global stage. APU’s campus provides the multicultural environment companies need to foster the globalized human resources today’s business world demands.
▲<SALC Self-Access Learning Center>SALC is an indoor space where students can engage in independent language study according to their particular goals. There are spaces for users to practice their speaking and reading, practice pronunciation, or study for proficiency tests. Guidance on language learning is also provided.
▲<Learning Commons>In the Learning Commons (the APU library), we encourage learning in all forms. APU has created a common space where students can engage in lively discussions and prepare for presentations on the 1st floor, and a space for quiet individual study on the 2nd floor.
▲<AP House>There are 1,300 people from all over the world l iv ing together in our international dormitory, AP House. In this global village, participants interact with students of different cultural, linguistic, and religious backgrounds, helping them to develop their cross-cultural understanding and ability to adapt to new environments.
(*2) Participants with lower English abilities may also take classes in Japanese.

<Example of Classes: >
■ Learning management, economics, and problem-solving skills was a motivating and positive experience for me. Also, I think the chance to live together with students from all over the world was helpful in breaking down some of the barriers to communication with people from other cultures.
■ There was so much going on during these two months that they are imprinted on my mind as one of the most memorable periods of my life.
■ Being able to experience the discussion and presentation based format used in the MBA classes allowed me to absorb more than I ever would have just by listening to lectures.
■ Even with my poor English abilities, APU students always made an effort to reach out to me, which really helped to give me more opportunities to practice my English. Also, living in AP House and having the Self-Activated Learning Center nearby meant that I never had to look far for someone to talk to, which I think shows what a wonderful environment this is for practicing English. This is what makes APU’s program special in my opinion: you learn in a way you never would just by sitting in a classroom on an overseas training program.
