Usability Testing: Cupcakes Online

Retro-styled Vancouver based retail bakery whose specializes is cupcakes. The owners are Heather White and Lori Joyce the idea is based on whimsical cupcakes, cake and other vintage baked goods made fresh daily. All items are created from scratch so no preservative in these baking goods.

The Goals:The first goals are to be able to order without any problem.

The second to create an environment that the user friendly and provided a vintage look as does the store front.

The third goal to confirm if the current ordering process is need to be change or left as is.

The Users:

First User: Carmen Rivera age 65, retired Nurse , Never order online, based

in San Diego Ca

Second User: Lovely Quiros age 25 gamer, based out of New York

The Questions:

The test was conducted by email the link to the website was giving to the users and they were asked to review the website and than provided feedback by answering the below questions no purchase necessary. What cupcake would you purchase on this site? Looking for a red velvet and something different.Where you able to found the item you were looking? Yes, I was able to found it under Products but when I try to order a second cupcake it would not bring back to the pages and I had to write out my flavors in the comment box provided in the order form. I was a little confused by this but after the second try I felt it was much easier to just place a comment on what I wanted.Do you feel this website is easy to use? Overall it is but I do feel that the ordering process left me with some doubt if my order was received.What did you like about the website? I enjoy the website character and design it remind me of I love Lucy show.Any other comments for this test that you would like to give? No other comment but I did order from the website.

What cupcake would you purchase on this site? Cospolitan cupcake looks interest and the mint condition are both that would like to try. I have never order cupcake online before but this website look fun.Where you able to found the item you were looking? Yes and ordering look easy as well. Do you feel this website is easy to use? Yes I do believe it is easy to use.What did you like about the website? The vintage feel of the site. Any other comments for this test that you would like to give? I have to say that the website was interesting I never order but would like to visit the store. The store seem to give the same vintage look as the website..

Results Are…

Overall the test was successful in confirming that the current vintage feel of the website is present and connects the consumer with the store front. Additionally the test confirmed the usable of the website for “un tech” consumer to advance user. Recommendation for the change in the order process would require only placing a drop down menu of the product so the consumer when ordering will be able to add more than one flavor per order.
