PAGE 1
The Garden of Striving Striving is a garden when we struggle and strive for the one who appreciates our effort. We need to struggle and overcome our self to perform worship (i.e. to do the obligations and leave the sin).
We will continue with the study of Hadith that encourage Mujahida

Hadith that encourage Mujahida contd…
Hadith 2
This is Hadith Qudsi i.e. a divine hadith of the Prophet SAW where he is narrating on behalf of Allah.
The Hadith is telling us if the slave draws closer to Allah as less as a hand span, Allah will come closer to him an arm length. If we come close to Allah by walking, Allah will come running to us
! In life the lower hand needs to do more effort i.e. student goes to teacher, the slave goes to the master, the poor goes to the rich. We will not find a master who runs to the slave except when dealing with Allah. Allah does not need us and we need him. We are his slaves and to Him belongs the dominion. He is the King of the Kings.
! Allah accepts even little effort from us. We need to initiate to be closer to Allah and He will open more doors of being close to Him
! We need to struggle for the one who appreciates our struggle and multiplies the reward.

Hadith 3
The Prophet SAW said there are two blessings by which so many people are deceived. Allah gave the human being these two blessings in order to go to Paradise (by using these blessings to do more struggle and worship) but people are misusing these blessings.
1. Health 2. Free time.
" Allah did not give us health to enjoy the Duniya but to increase in the good
deed. On the contrary we are using our health to commit sins. Allah gave us our eyes, ears, hands and feet to worship him and not to do evil using these limbs. The Duniya has temporary pleasure but the Akhirah is everlasting joy. However the Shaitaan makes the Duniya very attractive to us in order to deceive us. Allah gave us the health to come closer to Allah by doing more struggle (Mujahida)

" The second blessing that is misused is free time. We are using our free time to
satisfy our desires instead of worshipping Allah. We need to use our free time to get closer to Allah. When time passes we cannot bring it back. We will be a loser if we don’t use our time to do good deeds.
Hadith 4
In this Hadith we are told about the strong believer and the weak believer.
" One who is struggling is a strong believer " One who not struggling is weak believer
The Prophet SAW said the strong believer is better and more beloved to Allah than the weak believer. Both of them are good.

How can we be strong?
Here we are told about tools to be strong.
1. We need to be eager for everything that benefits us whether in Duniya or Hereafter. We need to take care of anything that benefits our Duniya or Akhirah.
2. We need to rely and seek the help from Allah. This gives us inner motivation for struggle.
3. We need to not give up and keep moving. We should not be discouraged in the middle of the way. We should not despair and give up any good deeds that we are doing.
4. If something goes wrong then we should not say “if I did this then so and so would not have happened” but we should say “This is Allah’s decree”
The above are traits of a strong believer. We can apply these tools to achieve anything in life. Sometimes when people fail they say if I did this then this would not have happened. There is no benefit when we say this.
The Prophet SAW said saying “if I did this …..” opens the door to the whispers of the Shaitaan.

Hadith 5
In this Hadith we are told that:
" Hell fire is covered by desires. This is why we have the temptation towards sin.
" Paradise is surrounded by hardship. There are obligations we need to do in order to go to Paradise.
The good deeds appear very difficult to us if we are not doing them. But once we struggle and cross the barrier then it is easy for us
The sins and desire appear very easy and tempting. But when the person fulfills the desires, it is very tiring. Infact it is like Hell.
We need to struggle against our desires and not be pulled towards Hellfire. We should not give our rope to our desires as it leads to addiction / obsession. We need to have the control. We need to draw a line because our desires can pull me to Hellfire.
We need to struggle ourselves and do the obligations in order to go to Paradise.

Role Model of the Mujahida of the Prophet SAW
Hadith 1
The Prophet SAW did the best of the Mujahida and we need to look at him as our role model. Ayesha RA narrates that she saw the Prophet SAW stand in the night prayer for so long that his feet were swollen so she asked the Prophet SAW, ”Why are you tiring yourself when Allah forgave all your past and future sins?” The Prophet SAW replied,” Don’t you want me to be a grateful servant of Allah ?”
This incident tells us that Prophet SAW was struggling to show gratitude to Allah.

Hadith 2
During the last 10 nights of the Ramadan, the Prophet SAW used to make the night alive, wake up his household and tighten his belt
Someone asked Ahmed bin Humbal when should we relax ? He replied, “when you enter paradise.” Our life is mixed with hardship. Duniya is very less to be the rewarded or punished for anyone as it is very low quality. This is why we need to do the struggle to reach to Allah.

Hadith 3
One of the companions saw the Prophet SAW praying the night prayer and joined him, the Prophet SAW recited Surah Baqarah then continued with Surah Nisa then continued with Surah Aal-‐e-‐Imran very slowly. For any Ayah that commanded to glorify Allah, the Prophet SAW stopped to say Subhan Allah. For any mention of Hellfire, He seeked refuge from Hellfire and for any mention of Paradise, the Prophet SAW he made supplication and asked Allah for Paradise. Then he continued the prayer; the companion narrates that his Rukuh and Sujood were of the same length as his Qiyaam.
We need to struggle towards Allah according to our capability. No one will enter Paradise by his deeds but only by Mercy of Allah. The more we struggle, the more we worship Allah will determine our level in Paradise. The best level in Paradise is Firdaus where people will see Allah day and night and all the rivers of Paradise origin from Firdaus.
