IC Church
Restoration
In 2014 we will be celebrating
the Centennial of Immaculate
Conception Ukrainian Catholic
Parish. The cornerstone of our
first Church in Hamtramck was
blessed on December 25, 1913,
and the building was complet-
ed and blessed in 1914. There-
fore, it is fitting for us to
celebrate this very important
milestone of our Ukrainian-
America Community in 2014.
The celebration banquet will
be held on June 8th, 2014.
Please reserve this date in your
calendar.
In November of 2011, we
began the First Phase of a
major restoration project
focused on our Church. The
cost of the project to date has
been $305,000.
To preserve Immaculate
Conception Ukrainian Catholic
Church, its beautiful icons,
murals, paintings, and the
artistry of Mr. Mychajlo
Dmytrenko is the responsibility
of our Parishioners and our
Detroit Ukrainian- American
community. Working together,
we will secure our beautiful
Church for future generations. Here they will be baptized,
have their first communion, have their marriage blessed, and
receive their final blessing at the time appointed by God.
At this time, we are reinitiating the fundraising campaign for
the Second Phase of the IC Church restoration project. We
ask you to once again be zealous and generous in your
donations. The estimated cost of this next phase is $300,000.
It is a significant cost. As was the case with the first phase of
this project, it is achievable if we all do our part.
we ask you to consider making another effort, another
sacrifice, and help us restore our beautiful Church. This will
help to preserve a historic place of worship for future
generations of Ukrainian-American families in the
metropolitan Detroit area.
You can help our church by making a donation to the "IC
Church Restoration Fund" Future Credit Union account
number 13194 S20. At Selfreliance Credit Union, account
number 17263.

National Catholic Schools Week 2014
January 26 - February 1
“Catholic Schools: Communities of Faith, Knowledge, and Service”.
Explanation of Theme
The theme for the National Catholic Schools Week 2014 is “Catholic Schools: Communi-
ties of Faith, Knowledge and Service.” The annual observance starts the last Sunday in Jan-
uary and runs all week, which in 2014 is January 26 to February 1. Schools typically cele-
brate Catholic Schools Week with Masses, open houses, and other activities for students,
families, parishioners, and the community at large.
The 2014 theme was developed in response to member requests for a theme and logo that would last more than a year, the
new theme will be used for at least three years. This will provide opportunities for schools to brand the week and their on-
going marketing activities with repeated mentions and use of a consistent logo. It’s especially appropriate that this new
brand will mark National Catholic Schools Week 2014 – the 40th anniversary of this annual event.
The theme encompasses several concepts that are at the heart of a Catholic education. First, schools are communities—
small families in their own right, but also members of the larger community of home, church, city and nation. Faith,
knowledge and service are three measures by which any Catholic school can and should be judged.
The new logo features a swirl of colors interacting around a cross, which is at the center of all Catholic education. The
vibrancy of the colors and the movement and shadows in the logo portray the inner-connectivity and community life that
are present in our Catholic schools.
Why Catholic Education? When you send your child to a Catholic school, you do more than share your faith with them. You put your faith in us to
provide your child with strong spiritual and academic foundations. Catholic schools do more than prepare our students for
tests in the classroom - we prepare them for tests in life.

age (22.1) and the national average (21.1). Archdiocesan secondary schools also exceeded the highest state average score.

All elementary and high schools are accredited.
