Shot: 1 Shot Type: Medium Close Up of artist’s profile in the right hand side of the frame connotes his innocence, vulnerability and his longing for something/someone. Analysis: -The establishing shot shows the artist in a medium close up which lets the audience know who the artist is and therefore the genre of music. -The artists ethnicity demonstrates the usual conventions of the genre as RnB singers are often black, such as Ne-Yo and Beyonce. -The outfit demonstrates the genre of RnB as the jumper is one that the RnB genre would wear and also the diamond earrings on males is common of this genre. -The shot amplifies the lyric as he is by himself and the framing of the shot shows connotes wanting or needing something or one. -Also, the location of the out of focus garages also suggests his loneliness. -This lyric implies the genre too, as RnB is often about love. Time: 0:00 Lyric: ‘I need you boo’ Edit: Cuts to a shot of a moving bus after first lyric is sang, then of the artists moving feet, then back to the artist when the next line starts. This fills the time between the lyrics sang and cuts on the beat of the music. Shot: 38 Shot Type: Long Shot of artist whilst the camera Dollys backwards this allows for the artist to dance in full view of the audience whilst in shot. Analysis: -The shot is of the artist dancing which is a normal convention of RnB as most of this genres music video includes dancing inspired by that of Michael Jackson. For example, Ne-Yo One In A Million. -The artist has changed his outfit, though it still is appropriate for this genre as the baggy jeans and hoodies is generally associated with RnB. -This shot does not correspond with the lyrics as it just shows the artist dancing, though this is common in RnB music videos. Time: 0:33 Lyric: ‘when you talk to me’ Edit: The shot carries on for 2 more seconds, then cuts onto the artist carrying on dancing but shot from the side.
