RNCM Theatre Technical Information UPDATED May 2017
The RNCM Theatre is situated in the main RNCM building adjacent to the Concert Hall with which it shares backstage entrances and dressing room facilities. The theatre seats 607 in a single tier, with an option for 50 additional seats at auditorium level if the orchestra lift is not in use, for a maximum sellable capacity of 657. A seating plan is available on request. The proscenium opening is 45’ (13.72m) and grid height is 50’ (15m). The depth from the proscenium arch to the last set of lines under the fly tower is 26’ (8.53m) and behind this is a rear stage 30’ (9.84m) deep with flying height restricted to 22’ (6.60m). In front of the proscenium is a permanent apron of 8’ (2.44m). The orchestra lift at stage level provides a forestage extension of 16’ (4.88m) while lowered it opens up a pit with room for up to 80 players. At auditorium level the lift gives the opportunity to increase the seating capacity by 50. Catering facilities of any scale can be provided in addition to the normal public catering consisting of the usual audience bar and coffee service and a self-service restaurant and coffee bar open to the public all day. If required backstage catering can be made available. Dressing room accommodation is available for up to 110 persons in six rooms, five of which have en suite showers and toilets. Parking, Load In and Hook Up
RNCM Car Park
Please be advised that RNCM parking is VERY limited, cannot be guaranteed and will always
need to be arranged in advance.
Our surface car park will normally be able to provide space for a maximum of one or two
splitter vans or cars. Please contact the Events Manager to arrange this in advance.
On Street Parking
Parking for tour buses and trucks is in the on-street loading bay next to the RNCM theatre
on Rosamond Street West; this section of street is one way and must be accessed from
Oxford Road. Please contact the Events Manager to arrange this in advance.
Power Hook Up
Single or 3-phase electric hook-ups are available if arranged in advance. A minimum 30m
cable is required to reach the parking bay.
3-phase power is accessed from the circular cable pass hatch. Single phase is accessed from
the square power supply box.
Load In
Load in is at street level, on the flat, through the theatre workshop area to the rear of
Theatre stage area, or through stage door entrance to the Concert Hall.
