Initially, set the refrigerator control at 5 and the freezer control at 5. Allow 24 hours for the temperatureto stabilize. Several adjustments may be required. Adjust the controls one increment at a time, and allow24 hours after each adjustment for the refrigerator to reach the temperature you have set. Setting therefrigerator control knob to 0 stops coo!ing in both the refrigerator and freezer compartments, but doesnot shut off electrical power to the refrigerator.

About the shelves and bins.Not all features are on all models.

Shelves in the refrigerator compartment are adjustable.

Refrigerator Compartment

To remove:

Tilt the shelf up at the front.

Lift the shelf up at the back andbring the shelf out.

_! While tilting the shelf up, insert the tophook at the back of the shelf in a sloton the track,

0 Lower the front of the shelf until thebottom of the shelf locks into place.

Non-Adjustable Shelves on the Door

To remove: Lift the shelf straight up, then

Cleaning the Outside

The door handlesand trim. Clean with acloth dampened with soapy water. Dry witha soft cloth. Do not use wax on the doorhandles and trim.

Keepthe outside clean. Wipe witha clean cloth lightly dampened with kitchenappliance wax or mild liquid dish detergent.Dry and polish with a clean,soft cloth.

Do not wipe the refrigerator with a soileddish cloth or wet towel. These may leavea residue that can erode the point. Do notuse scouring pads, powdered cleaners,bleach or cleaners containing bleachbecause these products con scratchand weaken the point finish.

Cleaning the Inside

To help prevent odors, leave an open boxof baking soda in the refrigerator and freezercompartments.

Unplug the refrigerator before cleaning.If this is not practical, wring excess moistureout of sponge or cloth when cleaning aroundswitches, bightsor controls.

Use an appliance wax polish on the insidesurface between the doors.

Usewarm water and baking soda solution-about a tablespoon (15ml) of baking soda toa quart (1 liter)of wate_Thisboth cleans andneutralizesodors. Rinseand wipe dry.

After cleaning the door gaskets, apply a thinlager of petroleumjelly to the door gasketsat the hinge side.This helps keep the gasketsfrom sticking and bending out of shape.

Avoid cleaning cold gloss shelves with hotwater because the extreme temperaturedifference may cause them to break.Handle gloss shelves carefully. Bumpingtempered gloss can cause it to shatter

Do not wash any plastic refrigerator portsin the dishwasher.

Behind the Refrigerator

Becareful when moving the refrigeratorawag from the wall.All tgpes of floorcoverings can be damaged, particularlycushioned coverings and those withembossed surfaces.

Raisethe leveling legs located at the bottomfront of the refrigerator.

Pull the refrigerator straight out and return itto position bg pushing it straight in. Moving

the refrigerator in a side direction magresult in damage to the floor coveringor refrigerator.

Lower the leveling legs until theg touchthe floor.

When pushing the refrigerator back, makesure you don't roll over the power cord oricemaker supply line (on some models).

Care and cleaning of the refrigerator.

Preparing for Vacation

For long vacations or absences,removefood and unplug the refrigerator. Clean theinterior with a baking soda solution of onetablespoon (15ml) of baking soda to onequart (1 liter) of wateE Leave the doors open.

If the temperature can drop below freezing,

O To remove the light shield,grasp theshield at the back and pull out to releasethe tabs at the back.

Rotate the shield down and then forwardto releasethe tabs at the front of theshield.

After replacing with an appliance bulbof the same or lower wattage, replacethe shield.

INSTALLING THE REFRIGERATOR

REFRIGERATOR LOCATION

• Do not install the refrigerator where the temperaturewill go below 60°F (16°C)because it will not run oftenenough to maintain proper temperatures.

The leveling legs have 2 purposes:

1) Leveling legs adjust so the refrigerator isfirmlg positioned on the floor and does notwobble.

2) Leveling legs serve as a stabilizing broketo hold the refrigerator securelg in positionduring operation and cleaning, The levelinglegs also prevent the refrigerator fromtipping.

[] Remove the grille bg removing the two Phillipshead screws.

[] Turn the leveling legs clockwise to raisethe refrigerator, counterclockwise to lower it.

./i CAUTION: To avoid possible

personal injurg or property damage,the leveling legs must be firmlg touchingthe floor.

[] Replace the base grille bg inserting the twoPhillips head screws.

REVERSING THE DOOR SWING

IMPORTANT NOTES

When reversing the door swing:

NOTE: Door swing is not reversible on stainlesssteel models.

• Read the instructions all the way through beforestarting.

• Parts are included in the door hinge kit.

• Handle parts carefully to avoid scratching paint.

• Set screws down by their related parts to avoidusing them in the wrong places.

• Provide a non-scratching work surface forthe doors.

IMPORTANT: Once you begin, do not move thecabinet until door-swing reversal is completed.

These instructions are for changing the hingesfrom the right side to the left side-if you ever wantto change the hinges back to the right side, followthese same instructions and reverse all references

to left and right.

• Once door swing is finalized, ensure the logobadge is properly aligned and permanentlysecured to the door by removing the adhesivecover on the back side. NOTE: A replacementlogo badge is included in the hinge kit,

Unplug the refrigerator from its electrical outlet.

Emptg all door shelves, including the dairgcompartment.

[] REMOVE THEREFRIGERATOR DOOR

[] Tape the door shut with masking tape.

[] Remove the hinge cover on top of therefrigerator door by carefullg prying it up witha putty knife, if necessary.

[] Using a 5/16" socket ratchet/driver, removethe bolts securing the top hinge to the cabinet.Then lift the hinge straight up to free the hingepin from the socket in the top of the door.

[] Carefully remove the door thimble from insidethe socket, This will be used again whenreinstalling the door on the other side.

Remove the tape and tilt the door away fromthe cabinet. Lift the door off the center hingepin. Ensure that the plastic hinge pin thimbleremains on the hinge pin or inside door hingepin hole located in the bottom of the door.

[] Set the door on a non-scratching surface withthe inside up.

[] Tape the door shut with masking tape.

[] Remove the hinge pin from the hinge bracket.This will be used again with the new hingebracket for the other side.

[] Remove the tape and tilt the door awagfrom the cabinet. Lift the door off the bottom

hinge pin.

[] Remove the button plug from the left side ofthe door. Remove the door thimble from the

right side of the door. Install the door thimbleinto the hole on the left and the button pluginto the hole on the right.

[] Set the door on a non-scratching surface, withthe inside up.

[] TRANSFER CENTER HINGE BRACKET

[] Using a 5/16" socket ratchet/driver, removethe bolts securing the center hinge bracketto the cabinet.

[] Transfer the plug button and screw holecover in the hinge holes on the left sideto the right side.

[] Install the new center hinge bracket from thekit on the left side.

Using a 1/2" socket ratchet/driver, removethe nut and hinge pin from the hinge bracketwith leveling leg. Using a 5/16" socket ratchet/driver, remove the screws from the bottomhinge bracket. These will be reinstalled on theother side.

[] Using a 5/16" socket ratchet/driver, removethe screws from the leveling leg bracket onthe other side. These will be reinstalled on

the opposite side.

[] INSTALL BOTTOM HINGE ANDLEVELING LEG

[] Using a 1/2" socket ratchet/driver, install thehinge pin and nut in the opposite hole on thehinge bracket with leveling leg.

[] Using a 5/16" socket ratchet/driver, install thehinge bracket with leveling leg on the left sideof the refrigerator. The pin will be toward theoutside of the refrigerator.

[] Using a 5/16" socket ratchet/driver, install theleveling leg bracket on the right side of therefrigerator.

[] Remove the door stop on the right side of thebottom of the door bg removing the two screws.

[] Move the plastic hinge hole thimble to theopposite hole.

[] Install the door stop on the left side, makingsure to line up the screw holes in the door stopwith the holes in the bottom of the door.

[] REHANG FREEZER DOOR

[] Lower the freezer door onto the bottom hingepin. Ensure that the plastic hinge pin thimbleis on the hinge pin or inside the door hinge pinhole located in the bottom of the door.

[] Straighten the door and line it up with thecenter hinge bracket.

[] Install the center hinge pin with a 3/4" socketratchet/driver. Turn it until it extends throughthe hinge bracket and into the freezer door.


REVERSINGTHE DOOR SWING (cont.)

[] REHANG REFRIGERATOR DOOR

[] Lower the refrigerator door onto the centerhinge pin, Ensure that the plastic hinge pinthimble is on the center hinge pin or insidedoor hinge pin hole located in the bottomof the door.

[] Insert the door thimble into the hinge holeon top of the refrigerator door and theninsert the top hinge pin. Hake sure the dooris aligned with the cabinet. Attach the hingeto the top of the cabinet Iooselg with the bolts.

[] Hake sure the gasket on the door is flushagainst the cabinet and is not folded. Supportthe door on the handle side and make sure the

door is straight and the gap between the doorsis even across the front. While holding the doorin place, tighten the top hinge bolts. Replacethe hinge cover.

[] INSTALL THE LOGO BADGE

Remove the adhesive backing paperand align the pins on the back of the badgewith the holes in the door. Applg pressure tothe badge to ensure it sticks to the doon

Newer refrigerators sound different from older refrigerators.Modern refrigerators have more features and use newer technology.

Do you hear what I hear? Thesesounds are normal.

HUMMM...-- WHOOSH...

i_ The new high efficiency compressor may run fasterand longer than your old refrigerator and you mayhear a high-pitched hum or pulsating sound whileit is operating.

_: You may hear a whooshing sound when thedoors close. This is due to pressure equalizing withinthe refrigerator.

CLICKS, POPS,CRACKS and SNAPS

_: You may hear cracking or popping sounds whenthe refrigerator is first plugged in. This happens asthe refrigerator cools to the correct temperature.

i_ The freezer control will click when starting or stoppingthe compressor.

_ Defrost timer snapping in and out of the defrost cycle.

_: Expansion and contraction of cooling coils during andafter defrost can cause a cracking or popping sound.

WHIR!

iq You may hear the fans spinning at high speeds.This happens when the refrigerator is first plugged in,when the doors are opened frequently or when a largeamount of food is added to the refrigerator or freezercompartments. The fans are helping to maintain thecorrect temperatures.

iq The fans change speeds in order to provide optimalcooling and energy savings.

WATERSOUNDS

6_;_:The flow of refrigerant through the freezer cooling coils

may make a gurgling noise like boiling water.

iq Water dropping on the defrost heater can cause asizzling, popping or buzzing sound during the defrostcycle.

_: A water dripping noise may occur during the defrostcycle as ice melts from the evaporator and flows intothe drain pan.

_: Closing the door may cause a gurgling sound due topressure equalization.

Pour changer le sensd'ouverture des portes :

NOTE: Vous ne pouvez pus changer lesens d'ouverturedes portes sur les modulesen acier inoxydable.

• Lisez lesinstructionsjusqu'6 la fin avant de commencer.

• Les pi_cessont comprises dons I'ensemblede chorni_rede porte.

• Manipulez les pi_cesavec soin pour _viter de rayerIo peinture.

• Posezles vis pros des pi_cesqu'ellesfixent, pour _viterde lesutiliser au mouvais endroit.

• Pr_voyez une surface detravail qui ne rage pus les portes.

IMPORTANT:Une fois que vous aurez commence,ne bougez plus I'armoire avant d'avoir fini de changerle sensd'ouverture des portes.

Cesinstructions sont donn_es pour faire passer6 gaucheles charni_res situ_esdu c6t_ droit. Sivous voulez remettreles charni_res 6 droite, suivezces instructions en remplaganttoutes les r_f@encesau c6t_ gauche par des r_f_rencesau c6t_ droit.

[] Retirez le bouchon du c6t_ gauche dela porte. Retirez la bague de porte du c6t_droit. Installez la bague dons le trou _ gaucheet le bouchon dons le trou de droite.

[] D_posez la porte sur une surface qui ne risquepas de I'_gratigner, face int_rieure vers le bout.
