InstructionsRNT_LTE_Dimv2.3.6 Approved for RL10 / RL20 / RL30 / RL15TD / RL25TDProvided by NWS LTE RA E2E Mgmt SA NetEngGeneral Info:>Dimensioning tool comprises of three main parts presented as Link Budget, 'Cell Capacity' and 'Site Count' sheets.The tool is compliant with RL10, RL20, RL30 and RL15TD, RL25TD.Remarks related to Link Budget:>Modulation and Coding Scheme sets for DL and UL are compliant with Transport Block Size selection procedure, which is based on the chosen MCS and cell-edge user traffic requirement (Cell Edge User Throughput). Transport Block Sizes are defined with respect to the Physical Resource Blocks covering 1 ms in time domain. It can be assumed that Maximum MCS Throughput is determined by the percentage of Physical Resource Blocks which are used for PDSCH/PUSCH transmission.>In case of 'ERROR!' messages refer to the field description.>Antenna scheme recommandation:FDD scenarios shall be computed with up to 2Tx/2Rx antennas at eNB. MIMO mode depends on the release (Closed Loop available from RL20). For TDD, it is allowed to use beamforming schemes (LTBF for RL15TD and HBF from RL25TD).>All releases support channel-aware scheduling (based on Proportional Fairness) in DL. The FDPS gain values have been obtained using UPRISE system level simulator for 10th percentile of SINR CDF distribution. UL channel-aware scheduler is supported in all TD-LTE releases.>Interference Margin value is calculated only for DL. UL results are based on system level simulations. DL interference margin does not take into account intra-cell interference (perfect orthogonality between users in the same cell). If you want to edit the default parameters set, open Defaults sheet.>Indoor cell ranges can be calculated using indoor specific propagation models which are implemented just below Macro model part, starting from row 136.Remarks related to 'Cell Capacity':>The sheet is used to obtain the mean cell throughput based on system-level simulations. The input figures impacting the calculations are listed on top of the sheet.Remarks related to 'Traffic Model:>The sheet should be used if the user wants to specify traffic model figures impacting the total data volume in busy hour. After first use of RNT_LTE_Dim, the sheet contains several different traffic model formats which should be used as a basis for further calculations. If it is needed, one single section (one traffic model format) can be duplicated (copied at the end) and total data volume will be recalculated automatically.Remarks related to 'Site Count:>The sheet allows to make a final site count computation based on traffic requirments throughout several phases.Remarks related to 'CCH Link Budget':>The sheet allows to compute the link budget for all LTE relevant PHY control channels for DL and UL. It should be treated as add-on to data link budget actually proving that LTE control channels are robust enough to provide coverage not worse than PDSCH and PUSCH.Remarks related to 'Charts':>Charts' sheet allows to run an automatic plot generation based on the selected link budget scenario. Available plots: throughput vs pathloss/cell range and MCS distribution for DL and UL.Remarks related to 'VoIP':>VoIP sheet includes the calculation of PHY layer payload for various VoIP codecs. The data is used on "Link Budget" sheet when dimensioning voice service.Remarks related to Defaults:>Defaults sheet contains the default values which can be imported to 'Link Budget' sheet.Remarks related to Parameters:>Parameters sheet contains key parameters which are relevant to air interface dimensioning. 1) Office 2007 users who apply their own workarounds (e.g. xla/xll files swap) should recall such changes. The tool can work with inbuilt Analysis ToolPak library.2) Office 2007 without SP2 (or with SP1 only) may generate wrong results. This means the capacity is dimensioned heterogenously: victim cell is fully loaded using all available PRBs but the neighbours are using less.

"No" reflects conservative dimensioning aligned with 3GPP recommendations for system level simulations: homogenous load distribution.Reference spectral efficiency has been simulated for three scenarios:- Outdoor only (all UEs located outside, no penetration loss)- Outdoor-to-Indoor Basic&Mature (UEs located in buildings, penetration loss 20dB for ISD=500m,1732m; 10dB for ISD=3000m and 5dB for ISD=9000m)- Outdoor-to-Indoor High End (UEs located in buildings, penetration loss 20dB for ISD=500m,1732m,3000m,9000m)

This should be set according to link budget assumption in the propagation section. For typical outdoor-to-indoor case, one should choose "Outdoor-to-Indoor Basic&Mature" roughly corresponding to Basic and Mature deployment classes known from the link budget.Reference: 1x2 SIMONot yet implemented in NSN product.Reference: 1x2 SIMONot yet implemented in NSN product.Reference: 1x2 SIMOSupported from RL25TDSupported from RL30/RL25TD.Supported from RL25TD.In FDD, planned in RL40.In case of 6-sector deployment, the network is characterized with increased inter-cell interference which reduces cell throughput. Finally, complete site capacity is largely improved however the results "on per cell basis" are smaller compared to typical 3-sector deployment.

Cell throughput reduction because of 6-sector deployment is 6%.Channel model, specifically Doppler spread, defines the effective UE speed. System level simulations show cell throughput reduction of 25% when changing UE speed from 3km/h to 30km/h. Further velocity increase has almost no impact on cell throughput (less than 3% reduction).

Spectral efficiency is reduced by 25% when ETU70 channel model is selected.Supported in RL30.Peak throughput achievable with:- the given system bandwidth,- MIMO,- maximum supported MCS.

To be considered in future:- UE Category,- single-stream to dual-stream TBS mappingFraction of peak throughput which defines the start of dangerously high throughput range.

Until the gains do not make cell capacity higher than this threshold, all of them are sum up linearly.

If only this threshold is exceeded, cell capacity will behave like "arcus tanges" within the range between "min" and "max".Fraction of peak throughput which defines the upper (asymptotic) bound of cell capacity. Final result will never exceed this value.Capacity estimated based on spectral efficiency (from MoRSE) and all the capacity factors (both gains and losses) sum up linearly.

This value may exceed the peak throughput which will result in scaling it down. As soon as this value exceeds the dangerously high capacity threshold ("min") it will be scaled down below "max".Sometimes we simply don't need any scaling because the capacity gains can be considered linearly and the final result don't exceed "min" (dangerously high throughput threshold).This delta informs how much we have exceeded the dangerously high throughput threshold ("min"). In extreme cases, this may even be higher than the peak throughput.This delta informs about the possible range of movements for further scaling. It tells how far from the dangerously high throughput range ("min") we are with the maximum possible cell capacity ("max").The higher this ratio is, the bigger mistake would be made if we stay with linear sum of capacity gains.

Negative numbers mean that everything is fine and we can proceed with suming up the gain linearly.Final results is an outcome of "min" value increased by a certain fraction of "max-min" range. The fraction is determined using arctan() function which increases for low arguments whereas becomes almost the same for high arguments.Arctan is used to assess how much above "min" (dangerously high throughput) we can go with our features.

Note that the function is limited to the range of (pi/2, -pi/2). In further steps, we use this fact to limit the possible capacity increase up to the value of "max".To add a new service, please choose the required traffic model format and copy&paste the selection. Do not remove any additional (hidden) rows - it is needed for accurate data volume refreshing.Services which are listed here as VoIP, Streaming, Www, etc. should be treated as examples of traffic model format.

Traffic model format is a set of input parameters for data volume computation. Since the customers provide this information in very different manner, one should choose the most appropriate format to calculate data volume. Column C ("Link") allows to disable unwanted formats (disabled sections will not be taken into account when calculating the overall data volume)."Flat Rate" format is the most suitable for LTE traffic model parametrization.It suits to DSL-llike dimensioning. When "flat rate" format is used, other formats should be disabled if no other data is available.

Flexi System Module processing power has a strict limitation for the number of active UEs which can be handled. Above listed values will be automatically loaded after selecting the default traffic model in row27. In case the default traffic model is not used, is is safe to assume 30% share. For instance, it seems reasonable to assume 30% Share of Active Subscribers for RL10 dimensioning if the deployment mainly aims at data cards (low mobility users with internet applications doing a lot of background operations).

The term Share of Active Subscribers does not refer to Overbooking Factor (see Traffic Model sheet). Overbooking Factor determines the percentage of UEs which actively use the purchased subscription during BH (Busy Hour). Overbooking Factor=25 stands for 4% (1/25) UEs with DRB (Data Radio Bearer) with data to be sent/received. Other words, 4% of subscribers needs to be scheduled and certain radio resources must be assigned.

Example use case: flat rate subscription 512kbps with OF=25 and Share of Active Subscribers of 30%.4% of subscribers actively uses 512kbps service during BH --> 512kbps x 3600s / (25 x 8000) = 9MB (data volume)The system must be capable of serving 9MB/BH.This is a flat rate subscription mainly utilized by internet applications (HTTP, e-mail, P2P, "piracy voice", etc.). These applications remain "active" for a very long time due to background operations (i.e. synch with servers, mailbox periodic updates and any other kinds of background polling). For this reason, the System Module should be capable of handling about 30% UEs in RRC_Connected state, because even if 4% users needs scheduling, it does not mean that there are no terminals still with DRB.Indication that the number of sites is determined by baseband limitation. It may happen that there is no path loss for high MCS range. This is usually caused by the very increase of interference margin in case of higher and higher SINR requirement.It does not mean however that "unplotted" MCSs will not be used in the cell at all. They will be, but close to the eNB and not at the cell-edge. Interference margin formula does not reflect cell center environment and for this reason it is impossible to dimension the cell with very high MCSs at the cell edge. Anyway it would be unrealistic.It may happen that for very low data rate (e.g. 64kbps, 128kbps) the MAPL will be lower than for higher data rate. This is usually caused by the turbo-coding efficiency degradation in case of allocating small amount of user data. The effect is reflected in SINR requirement. It is visible because the power is equally shared among all available PRBs and cannot be focused on allocated ones like in UL.Add or remove throughput values and the tool will deal with table refresh automatically after choosing "Refresh Table" button. Do not remove formulas from columns C, D, E, F and M, N, O, P.
