Understanding the condition of our road pavements plays a vital role in the development of renewal models, works programs and defect logs. This workshop will assist road asset management practitioners apply best practice principles for inspection, condition and performance assessment of road pavements. The focus of this program is on the practicalities of how to prepare and undertake a visual assessment of both sealed and unsealed road networks including resultant data analysis, reporting and resultant financial management The workshop references the concepts & guidelines presented in IPWEA’s Road Pavements (Visual Assessment code) suite. It also meets the requirements of the ISO 55000 AM Standards. Who should attend? Typical attendees include: Road pavement asset practitioners Engineers, technical officers, inspectors and assessors Asset Managers Finance professionals The workshop applies to local and state government, public works or other organisations (public or private) that manage road network assets to provide services for their community, customers and stakeholders. Outcomes At the conclusion of the program, participants will be better equipped to: carry out a visual Condition Assessment based on risk profile to rate each component inspected as a factor in the estimate of remaining useful life carry out a risk analysis based on visual condition rating as input to predict the timing of future renewals and replacements of pavement components and/or appropriate maintenance activity and frequency review and update the register of road pavement assets and classifying these assets into their appropriate component levels provide reports including a road pavement visual condition summary report, component schedule, input to valuation and depreciation report and an expenditure profile produce work schedules and construction programs (maintenance, renewals and new works) and input to long term financial planning support the strategic asset management for the road pavements as outlined in the Asset Management Plans.
