Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (DJSI)
Overview
• Cooperation with S&P Dow Jones Indices for the publication and licensing of the DJSI.
• Launched in 1999, the DJSI were the first global indices tracking the financial performance of leading sustainability-driven companies worldwide.

Invitation and Eligibility
Who is eligible for the Dow Jones Sustainability Indices and is invited to participate in the RobecoSAM Corporate Sustainability Assessment?
• The 2,500 largest companies based on free-float market cap are invited for
DJSI World. The starting point for this is the S&P Global BMI.
• For the regional indices, the 600 largest companies in the S&P Global BMI
• For DJSI Emerging Markets, 800 largest companies from 23 emerging markets
• The free-float market cap is based on information as of end of December the year before
• Companies are assigned to RobecoSAM industries, based on the globally
recognized GICS classification system

Registration & Confirmation of Participation
How do I get started and when will I be able to access the questionnaire and start filling it out?
• The official invitations were sent out on March 14
• On April 5, all invited companies will receive an email with instructions for
confirming their participation in the 2016 assessment:
• New companies: you will need to register and sign up for an account
• Returning companies: you only need to confirm your participation
• The 2016 questionnaire will only become available for editing once you have
confirmed your participation by clicking on the link in the email you will receive.

Administrator vs. User Account
• The administrator account can be used only by one person and has additional privileges, including:
• Managing users and contact details • Pre-filling previous year answers for the full questionnaire
• Requesting deadline extensions • Approving final versions of questions • Submitting the questionnaire
• Accessing company reports, including the Benchmarking Scorecards
• The user account may be used by an unlimited amount of users, simultaneously contributing to the questionnaire.
• The username and password will be the same for all users • Users can work in parallel on the questionnaire, but not on the same question

Announcement of Index Members
The new index members are publicly announced on September 8 • Members have the right to use membership logo – the usage guidelines are
included in the Approval Form
• Results are communicated through three main reports:
• Company Benchmarking Scorecard
• Media & Stakeholder Analysis (MSA) Report • Industry Overview
• The top performing companies in each of the 24 Industry Groups are highlighted through sustainability profiles on the website

Tips for a successful submission
• If requested, provide supporting evidence that covers all answers that you have marked
• If specifically indicated, make sure your supporting evidence is publicly available
• Remember that the official language of the DJSI is English
• If you feel that a specific question is not applicable to your company’s business model, please provide a comment as to why
• Provide explanatory comments if needed, especially if answers or data have changed significantly from one year to another
• Be brief and to the point. Make sure that you provide the most relevant information for the question asked.
• Pay attention to warning messages in the system, which may point to incomparable data or typos that have been entered.
