ROBOTIC ROTARY JOINT
Product Description
The Rotary Joint device allows electrical andpneumatic lines from the robot to feed through to thetool keeping air and electrical lines on the robot fromtwisting. The Rotary Joint has two com-ponents: Fixed and rotating. The rotatingcomponent consists of the robot inter-face plate, tool interface plate, and a cen-tral connecting core. The fixed componentis a central ring, which is held stationaryby a torque rod attached to a fixed part ofthe robot arm.
Lines are attached between the fixedcomponent and your robot controller. Asthe robot moves, the fixed lines do nottwist. Advanced slip ring technology isused to pass fixed lines to the rotatingcomponent and then to your tool—so asyour robot moves, electrical signals and pneumaticpressure pass from the robot to the tool preventingthe lines from twisting. With many different sizes, thisdevice can be easily integrated onto almost any robot.
Benefits and Features
• Prevents damage and increases life of robot electrical and pneumatic lines. Normal twistingaction can fatigue electrical lines or damage pneumatic lines.
• Compact, light-weight design with a high loadcapacity.
• Constructed of anodized high-strength aluminumalloy with easy-to-use electrical and pneumaticinterface.
• Angle of traverse is unlimited (360º+).• Suitable for speeds of up to 120 rpm and for
payloads of 4,050 lb (18,000 N) and 7,260 lb-in(820 N-m). Larger models are available on request.
• Allows passage of pneumatic and electrical lines.• Suitable for BUS signal transmission.• Tested to operate beyond one million rotations.• IP63 rated.• New design includes two sets of ball bearings
for increased strength (models RJ-40-1-KS,RJ-50-1-KS and above).
• Purge air port for IP65 applications. Provides inter-nal positive air pressure that prevents outside con-taminents from entering the unit (uses dry, cleanair 5-9 psi [.4 -.6 bar]).
