RTL is a self-guided, autonomous Robotic Truck Loader for the loading of a variety of products. Wynright’s truck loading technology is ideal for dead stacking of boxes, bales, containers, tires or other products that have some consistency or regular stack pattern directly into a truck trailer. The system has the capability to load cases auto-matically, adjusting its position by sensing the sidewalls as it loads and backs up.

RTL is fed product through a connected telescoping conveyor. RTL then accumulates the product either vertically or horizontally so that the robot can place mul-tiple products at a time. The robot can also place one product at a time to create a more complex stack pattern. The process is repeated until a wall of cases is built within the trailer. The system then autonomously backs up one product length and another wall is built. Each system typically moves between a dock pair, so that while the system is loading one trailer, the trailer is being set up for the next load.

As options, the system can track weights of cases and track individual cases that belong to specific orders. Other options include a bypass process to handle odd sized components and operator paging system to alert operators for error conditions. Each system can be customized to individual customer needs.

This field installed version is designed to unload cases of uniform or non-uniform size and shape. The RTU uses advanced 3-Dimensional perception technology to drive into the trailer and to acquire the first carton to unload.

The robot grasps the carton and places it onto an inte-grated telescoping conveyor on board the unit. The on board conveyor feeds the carton into the facility's receiv-ing system. This process is repeated until an entire face of cartons has been unloaded. The system drives in, while sensing the trailer walls, the depth of one layer and sets up for the next wall. Once the first carton is acquired, the RTU continues to unload the trailer until it is com-pletely unloaded.

The RTU can be positioned to handle two adjacent dock doors. As the RTU unloads one trailer, the operator preps the second trailer. A single operator can oversee two to three RTU units.
