Since the liberalization of the German utility market robotron*e~count is the market-leading energy data management system in Germany. It is one of the main components of the universally designed Robotron Energy Market Suite and covers all functional requirements of grid operators, beginning with advanced meter reading up to billing.

Even upstream and downstream processes, as they occur starting from the meter to data analysis and processing up to the different aggregation levels for the preparation of balancing and data exchange with other market participants.

Successful optimization of processes within the mass consumer business as well as the communication with the market partners is secured through comprehensive automation. EDM systems of Robotron offer a wide range of process supporting basic functionalities. Besides numerous features the following must be emphasized:

Basic functionalities

Besides the multi-commodity ability the EDM core forms the basis for high-performance storage and processing (plausibility checks, substitute value generation etc.) of master and transaction data. It has been successfully proven in several mass data tests. System-independent process automation and control, free grouping options of EDM contents, mapping of any tariff information and a European public holiday calendar are further elements of the core functionalities.

Automated market communication

The communication automation, as a component of the EDM core, drastically reduces the daily amount of work concerning data exchange with other market participants. All import and export activities are organized as a result of the networking of company-wide communication platforms. Furthermore the import from different grid fee databases for power and gas is done via communication automation. For all cases of application the compliance with the latest IT security and signature regulations is required.

Intuitive calculation options

The formula editor assists with freely arranging mathematical and statistical calculations with time series. By allocating formulas to calculation jobs calculations can be automated, logically linked and result-oriented released. The calculations are executed depending on the data quality of incoming time series in terms of status and/or plausibility parameters.

Comprehensive evaluations

In order to keep an eye on all incidental numbers and to efficiently process results of calculations and analyses the system offers various analysis options. Besides a number of defined requests and standard reports the user is able to compose individual analyses. Based on detailed user authorization rights the module Excel-Reports offers mechanisms to automatically fill-in and dispatch reports. Searching for raw data in the system as well as the manual copying of data to Microsoft Excel is unnecessary. Even the reporting process itself can be automated using a job.

Visualization tools

Single load curves, group totals, balancing energy time series, z-factors, temperatures, pressure ratio, price time series, solar radiation – time series of any kind – all these data can be easily visualized and analyzed with different tools. This way key figures such as weighted moving average, cumulative line, duration curve (peak and off-peak), forecast quality and many more can be determined.

Administration

The system contains an extensive portfolio of tools for the administration of individual or group user rights, archiving functionalities, logging, monitoring options, tenants, time-controlled orders ( jobs) and many more. These tools can be set and administered variably, depending on requirements, globally as well as systematically for specific tasks.

Not only are the classic functional requirements for an EDM system within the area of grid operation displayed interface-free, but also the process chain from the meter to dispatch of billing relevant data in connection with the Advanced Meter Reading (AMR) robotron*e~collect.

This system supports the push as well as the pull operation when reading meters. For this, a meter producer-independent remote parameterization of the devices e.g. for time synchronization, firmware updates and the execution of tariff switching or remote blocking is possible. An integrated AMI management

and a technical device management as well as a comprehensive process monitoring are available. By implementing robotron*e~collect, the interface between the AMR and the EDM is not required and the redundant data storage for meter data within both systems is prevented.

Balancing power

Suppliers and balancing group managers are able to automatically readjust the sample balance on the basis of the data supplied by the grid operator and the balancing group coordinator. This way feed-in and withdrawals per grid area and energy balance account can be determined through shadow accounting.

The totals of shadow accounting are compared with the balancing totals by the system. Determined deviations are shown in table form and graphical illustrations.

Clear structures of the contract model form the basis for balancing within robotron*e~count. The following contract structures as well as their allocations among one another are defined:

The mapping of contracts result in the views on balancing structures per control area, energy balancing account, grid area or supplier. Another step is the determination of energy quantities for feed-in/ procurement and /or withdrawal for a number of precisely defined and familiar feed-in or withdrawal points in specified time intervals, defined through contractual periods.

Metering points of consumption metering and feeders are taken into account through time series. Metering points of non-metered supplier and feed.in points are assigned SLP lines which store forecasting and consumption data in form of annual consumptions/ forecasts and are converted to quarterly values per load profile procedure.

Balancing gas

On the basis of received MSCONS messages per feed-out point and the allocation on balance group/ grid operator level, it is possible to use shadow accounting in order to check the balancing group billing of the MAM. The expectations for the import of allocations can be generated from the master data view or the imported declaration lists of the grid operator. Following the allocation the BGM is supported with the identification of allocation clearing events. Bilaterally agreed quantities are imported indicating the clearing number and used for shadow accounting.

In order to check balancing group billing all relevant messages are imported and compared with elaborated quantities. Calculated energy quantities can be evaluated with prices to verify balancing energy as well as levies, charges, etc.

Balancing according to MaBiS – regulations for the German market The module especially developed for MaBiS – market rules for balance group billing power – guarantees the implementation of a highly automated clearing process.

BGM as well as suppliers are able to monitor and control requirements, import, verification and processing of respective lists as well as further functionalities and any mandatory deadlines.

Robotron EDM/MDM systems contain numerous load curve data on the basis of which invoicing is done. Here the commodity-independent billing module of Robotron is used. It supports the user with periodical (e.g. monthly, annual) or single billing of supply, trade (from portfolio management), balancing group, grid utilization and service contracts for consumption metering, SLP customers as well as grid operators, distributors and suppliers. Furthermore, the export to accounting systems as well as electronical invoicing and corresponding market communication is supported.

Grid utilization

The system supports with the orderly billing of grid usage fees incl. taxes and levies up to EDIFACT-INVOIC generation on a daily basis and per meter point. Different billing models can be applied:

��Provisional monthly invoice: Changes of annual ceiling are retrospectively corrected during the year (keyword: performance price correction, drag pointer model). In form of a 13. invoice the calculations are corrected for the actual hours of full utilization, if necessary.

�� Final monthly invoice (event-based correction): Changes of the annual ceiling and/or the hours of full utilization more than/less than 2,500 h/a the respective positions from previous months are retrospectively corrected during the year (keyword: performance price/ contract price correction).

�� Final monthly invoice (event-independent correction): Independent from changes of the annual ceiling or hours of full utilization the respective positions from previous months are retrospectively corrected during the year (keyword: iterative billing).

The final invoice is subject to the market standard 13I or 13R.

Excess/shortfall quantities

The system enables the user to calculate the excess/shortfall quantities calculation and billing in the role of the (feed-out) grid operator. Besides excess/shortfall quantities calculation for consumption metering in (natural gas) balance groups robotron*e~count supports monthly/rolling billing as well as closing day procedure and delimitation procedure for SLP customers.
