Science Lesson Plan
In addressing concepts in Earth Science, I reformulated the lesson plan using a variety of visual and text effects in a PowerPoint presentation. Continuous reassessment of
key terms including unique rhymes and stories were created to address the target audience’s age and
language ability.
This is a page from the Harcourt Earth Science curriculum lesson that I modified for students. The
objective was to involve more visual and language support for
students. Additionally, the creation of unique rhymes, stories relating to the topic , and graphics captivated the learners attention.
RocksPart of the Earth’s crust
Weathering
Weathering
Erosion
Weathering breaks down rocks by wind and rain
Erosion carries it away grain by grain
Rocks can fit in your socks
The pebbles fit in your hand
But between fingers…down goes the sand
And the boulders don’t fit on our shoulders!

There once was a rock who fit in a sock.
Story of Rocks
Mom
Pebbles his sister, small and round. She’s something you’d see on the ground.
His brother’s name was Sand but he was so small he’d fall through your hand.
“Mommy”, asked the rock, “How did I get here?”“Why am I smaller than you but bigger than the rest of the crew?”
I’m bigger than both of you!
But smaller than Mom!
“Well”, said the boulder, “I was weathered by wind and rain that falls from the sky”.
“Thanks to erosion, you were carried away by the lakesFor goodness sakes!”
