The Elder Adult Care Radio show has some NEW EXCITING CHANGES: Show has a NEW name, NEW time, and NEW for‐mat! Listen to Call Kira About Aging! Saturdays, 2‐3 PM on KSRO 1350AM.
Kira Reginato, host of "Call Kira About Aging!" is a San Fran‐cisco native who has worked with older adults and their families to navigate the challenges of aging for more than 20 years. She and her guests offer pragmatic advice and create an on‐air community where listeners realize they're not alone in facing the often difficult decisions of aging. Kira brings insight, a compassionate personality, and humor to subjects that can be difficult to discuss.
As President of Living Ideas For Elders, a consulting and case management firm she founded in 2007, Kira has been active in professional associations, serving three years as chair of the Sonoma County Section on Aging, chair of the Petaluma Senior Care Connection, and co‐chair of the Bay Area Chap‐ter of the Western Regional National Association of Profes‐sional Geratric Care Managers. In 2010, the Petaluma Cham‐ber of Commerce presented her with the Award for Excel‐lence in Service to Seniors.

The Nutcracker Ballet Califia’s 16th Annual In this age of consuming en‐tertainment digitally through iPods, iPads, giant flat‐screen TVs, DVDs, and PCs, what you’re actually seeing is more and more just computer gen‐erated. It can be exciting and fun, no doubt, but it’s not real. Ballet Califia presents The Nutcracker, with chore‐ography by David McNaugh‐ton and Shelley Scott, set de‐sign by McNaughton and cos‐tumes by Scott… and danced and performed by real actual people on stage. Come ex‐perience the magic of a live p e r f o r m a n c e ! You haven’t seen The Nut‐cracker until you’ve seen Shelley and David’s choreog‐raphy. fresh and fun atmosphere to the traditional tale of Christ‐mas dreams. This is truly a fun holiday family event. Call Spreckles for show times.

Show dates for 2012 are July 7, 10, 12, 14.
Opportunities for you:

PING PONG– Park Pingers Wednesdays & Fridays 12:30p‐2:30p
Why play Ping Pong??
1. Health and Fitness‐Table tennis is good for your health ‐ it's great for getting up a sweat and get‐ting the heart rate up. Played at the higher lev‐els, it's one of the fastest sports around. But you don't have to be a pro to get a good workout. Just a couple of hours a week hitting that little white ball around can do wonders for your fit‐ness.
2. Gentle on Your Body‐It's easy on the body. You can play ping‐pong according to your own capa‐bilities and limitations, and still be competitive. And being a non‐contact sport, you don't have to worry about those bruises or even broken bones that you can get in contact sports.
3. Everyone Can Play‐There's no age or gender bar‐riers ‐ it's common at clubs for 60 year old veter‐ans to be playing 15 year old juniors, or men playing against women, and with everyone hav‐ing a great time and a close match. Families can all play each other without having to worry about the bigger or stronger members dominat‐ing the game. In fact, many athletes with disabili‐ties can compete on equal terms with able‐bodied athletes at table tennis, since there is much more to the game than sheer power or strength.
4. A Sport for Life‐Table tennis is a lifelong sport, that can be played competitively right up to your eighties and beyond. It's never too late to start, and you won't have to hang up your bat later on because you are getting too old for the sport. As you get older, better use of tactics, and technol‐ogy such as long pimples or antispin, can com‐pensate for slowing reflexes or waning speed around the court.
5. Keeps You Mentally Sharp‐As you get older, ping‐pong is good for the brain. There is an awful lot of thinking, planning, and strategising going on out there on the court, all of which helps keep the old grey matter active!
6. You Can Play Anytime‐Table tennis is an indoor, non‐seasonal sport. You can play it all year round, and you don't have to worry about bad weather or covering up to keep those harmful
UV rays off you. 7. Make New Friends‐Table tennis is a great social
sport. You'll get to meet plenty of people down at the local clubs. Play a competition once in a while and you'll be able to compete and make friends with a whole bunch of fellow table tennis enthusiasts.
8. You Don't Have to Spend a Fortune‐It’s free here at the Senior Center!
9. Enjoy Yourself!!!‐It's fun! Table tennis is a won‐derful sport to take up for life. It's easy to play, yet difficult to master. You'll always have an‐other challenge to look forward to, and another mountain to climb.
10. You can't argue with all of those reasons, can you? So now that you're convinced that table tennis is for you, join us Wednesdays & Fridays 12:30p‐2:30p here at the RP Senior Center!!
Thank you Petaluma Pongers for your sup‐port in raising my money to help us get our very first table! We could not have done it with out you!
A BIG Thanks to Merrill Garden for the do‐nation towards our first table as well!!
