SKF roller bearing pillow blocks, flange blocksand take-up units are offered with collarmounting. SKF roller bearing pillow blocks andtake-up units are offered with ConCentramounting. Both are based on the SKF 22200series spherical roller bearing. Fully assembledand pre-greased, the units need no internalbearing adjustments at assembly. This savestime and eliminates the risk of bearingcontamination during assembly.

Roller bearing units
MountingCollar-mounted roller bearing units slide easilyonto the shaft and are locked in place with atwo set screw locking collar. The locking collarkeeps pressure on the set screws helping tomaintain the tight fit with the shaft. For addedholding power, the largest sizes are designedwith two locking collars, indicated in thedimension tables. Mounting is quick and easy.
HousingsThere are a variety of housing styles in the SKFroller bearing unit product line, including pillowblocks, flange units and take–ups. Pillow blocksare made in two configurations: the SYE isdimensionally interchangeable with competitor"E" designs and the SYR is dimensionallyinterchangeable with units such as the DodgeS–2000, Linkbelt P–B22400, and Rexnord ZA2000 series.

MountingThe ConCentra roller bearing unit uses apatented multi–tapered sleeve arrangement,making it easy to mount the bearing to theshaft. This method provides nearly 360° ofinterference fit, which does not offset the centerline of the shaft and helps reduce fretting.

Introduction
ConCentra roller bearing units are suppliedcompletely assembled with bearings, seals, andgrease. They are ready for installation right outof the box and require no internal adjustment.
ConCentra units can be used in the sameapplications as collar-mounted roller bearingunits. The difference between the two types isthat the ConCentra unit mounts with a near360° interference fit (see "Mounting", to theright, and Product descriptions on followingpage).

SKF roller bearing units are available in avariety of housing styles and two mountingmethods. These units are simple and economicbearing arrangements combining the high loadcapacity and self-aligning features of the SKFspherical roller bearing with the convenience ofset screw mounting and a rugged cast-ironhousing. They come pre-greased and fullyassembled. Installation time is reduced andthere is no risk of bearing contamination duringassembly. Roller bearing units can accommodaterunning or static misalignment of ±11⁄2° and can be supplied as free or held assemblies. Allunits incorporate triple protection TriGard sealsas standard, but can also be supplied withoptional seals.
Collar-mounted units use a locking collardesign to firmly secure the bearing inner ring tothe shaft. The two set screws extended throughthe inner ring of the bearing and lock into theshaft. The elasticity of the locking collarsmaintains pressure on the set screws helping tomaintain a secure fit to the shaft even in severepower transmission applications. Mounting isquick and easy. Slide the unit on the shaft, boltthe housing securely to the mounting surfaceand tighten the two set screws.
ConCentra units combine the advantages ofadapter mounting found in split pillow blockswith the convenience of set screw mountingfound in collar mounted roller bearing units. Theresult is a positive, near 360° interference fitwith the shaft. This is achieved with a uniquepatented multi-tapered sleeve arrangementdeveloped by SKF. The shaft is held concentric tothe bore of the bearing resulting in reducedfretting corrosion, good balance and lowvibration. Dismounting is just as easy. Loosen themounting set screws and tighten thedismounting set screws until the multi-taperedsleeve releases its grip, usually with a “POP”. Noneed for cutting torches or other mechanicaldevices. Downtime and shafting cost are saved.
ConCentra units are available inSYE-N, FSYE-N, SYR-N, and SYT (metric) pillowblocks as well as TBR-N and TRH-N take-uphousings. FYR and FYRP flange housing areavailable on an application review basis. This isdue to the often limited access to thedismounting set screws.

TFT
FYRFYR cast-iron flange unit roller bearings supportrotating shafts through walls, bulkheads, orother flat surfaces. The two smallest sizesmount to the surface with three bolts; all othersizes use four mounting bolts. They are availablefor shaft sizes from 17⁄16" to 4". These units relyon the mounting bolts for location and loadcarrying (FYR-N available on application review).Page 314.
FYRPThese piloted flange cast-iron flange units,available for shaft sizes from 17⁄16" to 4", have a machined extension on one side to fit into aprecisely machined bulkhead opening. Thisprovides additional location and support to theunit. All piloted flange units are supplied in four-bolt mounting arrangements (FYRP-Navailable on application review). Page 315.
TFTTFT top mount take-up frames are designed foruse with SYR, SYR-N, SYE and SYE-N unit rollerpillow blocks. TFT assemblies are used primarilyfor belt tensioning in conveyor applications. TheSYR blocks mount directly to the top of theframe and are positioned by turning theprotected adjustment screw at either end of theframe. TFT frames are available in travel lengthsranging from 12" to 48" and they accommodateSYR and SYR-N housings for shaft sizes from17⁄16" to 4". Pages 316 - 319.
