My text is found in John chapter 10. This is the chapter that says we’ve got to go in at The Door. If I had never read the Bible but simply heard that first verse when Jesus said, “He that entereth not by The Door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a rob- ber,” and if I knew anything about Heaven being a place where there will be no thieves or rob- bers, then I’d already know that I couldn’t get to Heaven if I didn’t go through The Door. Now, if I wanted to go to Heaven, and if I believed that I could only go to Heaven through The Door, then I’d be looking for The Door. It’s custom- ary to put at least one door in every house, and God has a door to His big house. It’s a little different from most other houses; it only has one door. There is no back door, because there won’t be anyone leaving. All the traffic will be coming in at the front door. No side doors. No trap doors. Just one big, lovely front door. In John 10:7, Jesus said, “I AM THE DOOR.” I’m so glad I met Jesus! And, Brother, if we want to go to heaven, we’re going to have to go through Jesus! I know there are some who say we’ve got to go through the baptismal water, or through the Virgin Mary, or through the priest, or through the church, or through good works, but Jesus said, “I AM THE DOOR.” There are some people who say, “We’ve got the key.” But, Broth- er, when I’ve got The Door, I don’t need the key! And so, we must face Bible truth and Gospel truth. Je- sus said, “I AM THE DOOR.” There was only one door in the ark, and there is only one door to Heaven: Jesus is The Door! He said, “I am The Way, The Truth, and The Life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by Me,” John 14:6. You’ll never meet anybody in Heaven who didn’t come through The Door. Everybody is going to be sold on Jesus when we get to heaven. You can argue about Him down here, and you can fuss about Him. You can say He was a just good man or just a great prophet, but Brother, when we get to Heaven, everybody’s going to be singing “He’s a great Saviour.” Nobody is going to Heaven except through Jesus. § The Door by Lester Roloff Spring 2017 Volume 38, No. 2 Family Altar Newsletter Dear Friends, I am grateful for the privilege to serve as the president of the Roloff Evangelistic Enterprises. Paying a Debt and Keeping a Promise

by John Downs, Lighthouse Prison Ministry In 1981, I walked into a prison where I had at one time been incarcerated. This time I was not there for com-mitting a crime, but rather to bring a message that could set even the worst of sinners free. It was my first time back in, and my message was the same message that had set me free while sitting at the feet of Lester Rol-off in the late 1970’s. The message is summed up in the simple statement made in another prison many years ago in the ancient city of Philippi: “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shall be saved” Acts 16:31.

Brother Roloff’s statement about the gospel was, “Boys, it’s so simple the smart-alecks miss it!” It was that message which delivered me from a heroin addiction and a life that included eight felonies. It is the same message that I have been preaching in prisons, churches, rehabs, and on the streets for over thirty-five years. I am very honored and thankful that

the Lord has allowed me to be one of the missionaries supported by the Roloff Evangelistic Enterprises.

Although I have preached in ev-ery part of this nation, nothing has brought me more joy than recently sharing my story with the Apache Indians who are locked up in the Detention Center on the San Carlos Reservation in Arizona. It was the fulfillment of a goal and a promise that I had made to God and to Broth-er Roloff over thirty-five years ago. Three weeks before Brother Roloff went home to be with the Lord, I met him in Chattanooga, Tennessee, where he was preaching and I was attending college. Our three hours of conversation together focused mainly on the new work with the Apaches in Arizona that Ann Murphy and her son Scott had helped birth. I accepted an invitation from Brother Roloff to fly out to Arizona and share my testi-mony with the Indians who were in

bondage to drugs and alcohol. That trip never happened, and my spiritual father was home with Jesus.

Recently, at our annual board meet-ing for the Roloff Evangelistic Enter-prises, Brother Scott Murphy made it possible for me to enter the tribal jail and keep that promise I had made many years ago. The Lord was with us as God knit my heart with many of the Native Americans who, like me, have struggled with the “monster” of addiction. My message was the same, and the results are now etched in eternity. I look forward to returning again to that same jail soon, as well as to the other tribal jails where Scott has established a wonderful relation-ship with the tribal authorities.

It is an honor to serve as part of the team that our Lord has assem-bled to carry on the ministry which Brother Roloff founded many years ago. Thank you for standing shoul-der-to-shoulder with us as we strive to keep the preaching of Brother Roloff on the airwaves and internet in order to share the good news that “Christ is The Answer.”

had God not sent a missionary lady named Ann Murphy to the Enterpris-es who came seeking to understand the biblical approach utilized by our ministry in working with alcoholics and drug addicts.

Ann and her son, Scott, have a bur-den for the great need on America’s Indian reservations and have worked a lifetime among the Navajo and Apache tribes. This burden touched Brother Roloff’s heart. When he met with various tribal officials and witnessed the great need, he ex-claimed, “May God forgive me; I never knew this existed. We can—and we must—do something!” He began sharing the need of America’s “first mission field” as he preached on the radio and in churches across the country. He pleaded with God’s people to help him establish Regen-eration Reservation. That dream became a reality when, under a revival tent in the summer of 1982, he preached to the missionaries and the Apache believers assembled in the Arizona desert and dedicated the grounds of his final missionary en-deavor. Elisabeth and I never imag-ined that the Lord would take him home to Heaven just a few months later.

I remember Brother Roloff sharing that he had asked God to use his life to establish ministries so effective in reaching souls that no one would ever think to accuse him of doing it. I believe God has honored that faith and humility. The many lives touched over the years, as well as the vari-ous ministries that continue to this day, evidence that it always was and still is God’s work!

Regeneration Reservation contin-ues to reach Native Americans with the Gospel and to equip them to reach their own people for Christ. Because of the solid track record of this ministry over the last thirty

years under the leadership of Pastor Scott and Kathy Murphy, our Roloff ministry board asked the Murphys and their team to pray about moving the business office of the Family Altar Radio Program to the facility of Regeneration Reservation. After much prayer and consultation with everyone involved in both minis-tries, it was approved unanimously. This move has proven to be a great blessing. We have cut our operating costs tremendously, and we are able to utilize the gifts and talents of the missionary team in Arizona to help meet the needs of the enterpris-es. I know Brother Roloff would be pleased.

I want to thank all of you who are a wonderful part of our “Roloff fami-ly” for your prayers and support of this ministry. Our desire is that God receives all the glory!

In Christ,

Clinton Twaddell, Sr.Roloff Evangelistic Enterprises
