The dates for the Baptism of children and for the Pre-Baptismal instruction of parents should be arranged in the rectory ONE MONTH IN ADVANCE. In addition to English, and Spanish this Sacrament may also be in Italian.

•WEDDINGS/ MATRIMONIO Pre–marital instruction is a requirement for all engaged couples. Consequently, arrangements for weddings should be made SIX MONTHS in advance.

“Three times I begged the Lord about this. That it might leave me, but he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you. For power is made perfect in weakness.’ I would rather boast most gladly of my weaknesses, in order that the power of Christ may dwell with me. Therefore I am content with weaknesses…” Are we not all plagued by difficulties and problems? Do we have the courage to turn to the Lord as Paul did especially in moments of crisis? The litany of his hardships, and those of most people far exceed the troubles which

come my way. The source of Paul’s contentment is the remedy for our difficulties as well. His grace, His life, His power is available to us, especially in time of need. I only need to turn and express my dependence upon Him, to face whatever comes my way, the good and the bad. Weakness is certainly not the so called American way. Yet the secret is found in the Lord’s hidden presence if we but seek it and use it. May I repeat Paul’s mantra ‘I can do all things in Him who strengthens me.’ Paul did not give up but asked three times. Do I persevere? “Por este motivo tres veces rogué al Señor para que Satanás se alejase de mí. Pero él me dijo: ‘Mi gracia te basta, que mi fuerza se muestra perfecta en la flaqueza’. Por tanto, con sumo gusto seguiré gloriándome sobre todo en mis flaquezas, para que habite en mí la fuerza de Cristo. Por eso me complazco en mis flaquezas…” ¿No estamos todos plagados de dificultades y problemas? ¿Tenemos el coraje de volvernos al Señor tal como San Pablo lo hizo, especialmente en momentos de crisis? La letanía de sus penas y las de la mayoría de la gente son muy superior a los problemas que me aquejan. La fuente de alegría de San Pablo es el remedio de nuestras dificultades también. Su gracia, Su vida, Su poder están disponibles para nosotros, especialmente en tiempos de necesidad. Solamente necesito voltearme y expresar mi dependencia a El para poder encarar cualquier cosa que me afecte, lo bueno y lo malo. La flaqueza no es lo que llamamos la forma Americana, the American way. Sin embargo el secreto se encuentra en la presencia oculta del Señor, si estamos dispuestos a buscarla y usarla. Para repetir la mantra de San Pablo: ‘Todo lo puedo en Cristo que me fortalece.’ San Pablo no se dió por vencido, sino que rogó tres veces. Y yo, ¿persevero?

Nella storia, nel quotidiano più ordinario, il Dio eterno si fa prossimo dell’uomo. Attira la sua attenzione e gli invia dei “segni”: per esempio, facciamo l’esperienza inattesa del suo aiuto; incontriamo un uomo che testimonia di lui con forza. La sua preghiera ci coinvolge e noi “prendiamo gusto a essere con Dio”. Ascoltiamo la sua parola in modo nuovo. Scopriamo subito il suo intervento negli avvenimenti della nostra vita e scopriamo sempre più chiaramente

il “filo conduttore”. Ma può accadere che talvolta percepiamo l’incontro con lui come una esigenza che ci disturba, che ci irrita e ci provoca. È necessario abbandonare la terra ferma, osar affrontare l’ignoto, forse cambiare. E subito ricominciamo a fare questi ragionamenti: Perché dare un senso particolare a tale avvenimento? Non è piuttosto il caso a ordinare tutto, le leggi naturali come gli obblighi sociali? Perché prendere le elucubrazioni del nostro spirito come “messaggi di Dio”? Uno psicologo potrebbe spiegare meglio i diversi motivi delle nostre reazioni. Il nostro io percepisce un rischio, e rifiuta, per pigrizia o per autodifesa. Peggio: la nostra vita prende allora una cattiva direzione. Gesù viene nella sua città natale. L’interesse che suscita aumenta sempre di più. Il suo insegnamento suscita meraviglia. Da lui emana una saggezza indicibile. Ma molto presto l’attrattiva che egli esercita si altera: La gente è stupita: “Donde gli vengono queste cose? Non è costui il carpentiere?”, rampollo di una famiglia ordinaria? E trasmetterebbe una nuova dottrina? Annuncerebbe una esigenza? Era certamente in gioco l’invidia. E soprattutto il “buon senso”. È per questa ragione che i contemporanei di Gesù rifiutano di riconoscere l’azione di Dio nell’avvenimento. E non è tutto: deformano l’evento di Cristo e lo trasformano in “scandalo”, in una forza del male che spinge al peccato. Tale interpretazione “tenebrosa” finisce per rassicurarli, dopo una simile provocazione. Ecco una tranquillità pagata molto cara! La fede in Dio e la redenzione in Gesù Cristo diventano inaccessibili. Invece, gli abitanti di Nazaret avrebbero dovuto rischiare di abbandonarsi. Soltanto colui che ha una relazione di intimità con il Redentore sarà salvato. Colui che si è blindato nell’autoconservazione rimane chiuso alla salvezza. E sospettare con cattiveria che l’attrazione di Cristo sia una tentazione contro Dio in realtà non fa che rassicurare il suo egoismo, per quanto “ragionevoli” possano apparire i suoi argomenti.

Birth & Baptism Certificate of Student. Every child must be re-registered each year. 2 consecutive years to receive a holy sacrament.

Combined Tuition Fees refer to siblings, not cousins.

WEEKLY MASS SCHEDULE CHANGE Dear Parishioners, We continue to remind you of our new updated weekly Mass schedule. The 12 noon Mass will no longer be celebrated.

During the week we will continue to have Mass at 8am in English Monday through Friday.

As well as the 7:30pm Spanish Mass on Mondays & Thursdays and the Saturday 9am morning Mass.

We gladly thank all of the parishioners who attended Mass at noon regularly, we appreciate

your support and understanding.
