borders Hungary and Serbia to 

the W, Ukraine and Moldova to 

the NE and Bulgaria to the S.

Romania is a ´gifted countryµ,

as it has a stretch of sea coast  

along the Black Sea and the  eastern and southern  

Carpathian Mountains run  

through its center.

Romania is a parliamentary  democratic republic where executive functions are held by prime minister. The president is elected by popular vote for maximum two  terms, and since the amendments in 2003,

the terms are five years. Administrative divisions:

Romania is divided into 41 counties and the municipality of Bucharest. Each county is further subdivided into cities and communes, which have own mayor and local council. There are a total of 319 cities and 2686 communes in Romania.

Demographics:

In 2002, Romania had a   population of 21,698,181.

Geography:

 With a surface area of 238,391  square kilometres (92,043 sq mi), Romania is the largest country in southeastern Europe and the twelfth-largest in Europe.[119] Romania's terrain is distributed roughly equally between mountainous, hilly and  lowland territories.

Language:

The official language of Romania is Romanian, an Eastern Romance language related to Italian, French, Spanish,

Portuguese and Catalan. Religion:

Romania is a secular state, thus  having no national religion. The dominant religious body is the Romanian Orthodox  

Church.

y Location: Vulcan is large village, situated in the south west 

of Romania, in Hunedoara county.

Culture & Religion: Half  of the inhabitants of Vulcan 

village are Romanians and the other half is 

 formed bz Hungarians.Therefore, there are 

two churches and two religions: the Orthodox 

and Calvinist religion.

Languages: Due to this mixture, there are two 

languages spoken here: the Romanian and the 

 Hungarian languages 

Education:There is only one school in Vulcan,

named Scoala Generala; it comprises 

 kindergartens, primary and 

secondary schools, both for 

Romanians and for Hungarians.
