DAY 1:ENCHANTING WINE

An enchanting trip to Long Island Wine Country transports you to a place where over 60 vineyards flourish and over 40 Long Island wineries open their doors to visitors. Come sample the latest award-winning vintage, or take a fascinating Long Island wineries tour and see how vintners here have perfected their craft. Start out in Riverhead. Spend the day getting acclimated to the slower pace here by exploring downtown Riverhead, shopping for bargains at the Outlet Center or spending an enjoyable day at the Aquarium.

DAY 2:SCENIC BICYCLE TOUR

Head off the beaten path for a bicycle tour of the scenic North Fork. Join a group led by knowledgeable, local tour guides on a casual bike tour of Long Island Wine Country. You’ll pedal along scenic roads at a leisurely pace, stopping at boutique wine tasting rooms along the way. Ride along country roads; have a special reserve tasting, with a fresh fruit/cheese & cracker platter; stop by one of the local farm stands; indulge in a gourmet picnic lunch; enjoy sampling the wines; and exploring the historic village of Mattituck and Love Lane. The route is mostly flat with some small rolling hills and is designed for healthy and active people to enjoy. The total riding distance is 12 miles and most tours finish by 4pm. Spend the morning at Orient Point State Park beach at the very tip of the North Fork. You’ll relax on the sand or take a hike to explore the abundant wildlife. Head back to Greenport for lunch before boarding a ferry to take you to Shelter Island. Kayak the scenic coves of the nature preserve on this hidden jewel of an island located between Long Island’s two ‘forks,’ (Wine Country on the North Fork and the world-famous Hamptons on the South Fork). Overnight in an historic waterfront Inn as you enjoy a local menu complete with local wines.

Board the ferry to Sag Harbor in the Hamptons. Spend the morning strolling this quaint harbor side village. Visit the Sag Harbor Whaling Museum where you’ll find poignant displays revealing this long-ago chapter in Long Island’s earliest history. Lunch at an historic inn. Explore the Hamptons region wineries in East Hampton and Southampton before settling in overnight at a charming historic village B&B. Spend the early evening window-shopping and dining on local cuisine before heading to one of the most beautiful ocean beaches in the country to take a stroll in the sand as the sun sets on the evening.

Continue your own self-guided tour of Wine Country, stopping at small winery tasting rooms or larger wineries. Spend the afternoon in Greenport, where you’ll find amazing seafood restaurants, village shopping, and charming harbor front piers. Go antiquing and find a range of shops offering everything from nautical goods to locally sourced and made specialties. Take a spin on the historic waterfront carousel or stop by the local brewery, serving a variety of craft beers. Try any number of truly amazing local restaurants serving local produce, seafood and wines and brews.
