Response to ASB Bill
• To support government’s iniaitive on compusory micro-chipping 2016
• Tenancy Agreement needs to be revised- Pets policy• Cross-joint working with neighbouring RSL on sharing good practice• Advice- Education and Information- Community events- signage-
bins- leaflets• Enforcement action taken as last resort after warning letter- ASB
injunctions• Amendment to Dangerous Dogs Act 1991- dog out of control in
public place-private property-Could lead to malicuis complaints-neighbour disputes- boundary areas
• Dog Control Orders- keeping dogs on a lead- collar-clean up dog waste
Dog ASB Bill
• Things to consider- ASB Bill on dangerous dogs- education and advice not mentioned in ASB Bill-
• Enforcement- will have wider implications for local authorities to carryout when dealing with dog enforcement orders
• Not enough trained professionals to enforce against owners-dogs off lead- Issuing Fixed Penalty Notices (FPN)
• Dog Control Orders- similar agreement such as RDOA• Who will be qualified to assess whether a dog is a Pit
Bull type and whether pose as a dangerous dog
