What is Art? Art is a diverse range of human activities in creating visual, auditory or performing

artefacts (artworks).

Art lets artists express themselves through their imagination, use of conceptual ideas,

or technical skills, intended to be appreciated for their beauty or emotional power.

The three classical branches of art are painting, sculpture and architecture.

The creative arts are often divided into more specific categories, such as media,

genres, styles and form.

Basic Types of Visual Art:

1. Still life: A still life is a painting featuring an arrangement of everyday objects,

whether natural objects (flowers, food, wine, dead fish, and game, etc.) or manufactured items (books, bottles, crockery, etc.).

A still life is basically "anything that does not move or is dead. A still life can be realistic or abstract, depending on the particular time and

culture in which it was created, and on the particular style of the artist. The artist can use the still life symbolically or to express an idea, or formally

to study composition and the elements and principles of art.

2. Landscape: It is a natural scenery such

as mountains, valleys, trees, rivers, and forests, especially where the main subject is a wide view—with its elements arranged into a coherent composition.

Sky is almost always included in the view, and weather is often an element of the composition.

Landscape views in art may be entirely imaginary, or copied from reality with varying degrees of accuracy.

3. Seascape: A seascape is a painting, which depicts

the sea, in other words an example of marine art.

The word originated as a formation from landscape, which was first used of images of land in art.

It is an actual view of the sea itself which sometimes include some land or even a boat or ship.

4. Cityscape: Within the context of art, a cityscape is a work that showcases

aspects of cities. It is often known as the urban equivalent of a landscape. Cityscapes are differentiated by town or village scenes that

are less urban in nature. Cityscapes reflect various aspects of cities including (but not

limited to) buildings, urban parks, city skylines, and city streets.

5. Portraits:

The intent of a Portrait painting is to represent a specific human subject.

Portraits often serve as important state and family records, as well as remembrances.

Historically, portrait paintings have primarily memorialized the rich and powerful.

Over time, however, it became more common
