Sika Unitherm Platinum – the state of the art intumescent coating technol - ogy, a future oriented, environmentally and user-friendly product was borne as a result of such an intense cooperation. With the new added product Sika Unitherm Platinum-120 we give our customer a com- plete solution to provide a fire protec-tion of structural steelwork up to 2 hours.
FIRE AND CORROSION PROTECTION IN ONE
The Sika Unitherm Platinum technology offers fire and corrosion protection in one. This means that the Platinum technology is tested against the world leading corrosion test standard EN ISO 12944-6 and the Euro-pean fire test standard EN 13381-8. In con-trast to other technologies the requested destruction of the coating system which is mandatory by the corrosion test standard does not harm Platinum’s properties even when asked to meet the highest demands of corrosion class C5-M/I. After these se-vere conditions the system was directly fire tested and demonstrated its outstanding fire performance. Unlike other coating sys-tems and especially 1-pack intumescent coatings which can only be tested on the basis of EN ISO 12944-6 as they won’t withstand the tests after destruction.
This performance capability has been verified by independent institutes, con-firmed by the EAD-European Assessment Document. Furthermore it is monitored through continuous external inspections.
HIGH MECHANICAL IMPACT SHOCKThe Platinum technology offers a high me-chanical impact shock and weather resist-ance, means the steel does not need addi-tional protection when being transported or assembled on site. The coating is flexible, it can tolerate being knocked, banged or bashed, keeping costly post site repairs and unsight-ly flaking of new structures to a minimum.
